Mike2JZ
Seems they have also developed a "tuned" version of the 86. I think it's an improvement, but still lacking. http://speedhunters.com/archive/2011/11/28/car-spotlight-gt-gt-modified-toyota-86.aspx
rpslaughter1982
I think it could look like a poor mans lfa with a bodykit ( from the front at least). Speedhunters has a few pics of them together http://speedhunters.com/archive/2011/11/29/event-gt-gt-gazoo-racing-festival-2011.aspx
tbourner
I'm liking it more and more every time I see it.
Kirk
Put my name on the list for an early test drive with my dealer, date TBC but its on the 'List'. Found out some interesting things, the flappy paddle autobox is based on the same box that comes in the IS-F and apparently these car's are going to be hand built with around 1000 units per year. Very excited for this car Edit: The talk of this car being limited numbers and being hand made has now been debunked. The confusion came when a rather excited head of advertising for a some other company was mixed up with the head of advertising for Toyota. A Toyota PR has now confirmed it will be mass produced on a normal production line.
Thorin
I prefer the look of the standard one rather than the modified one...
AndrewOW
I prefer the look of the standard one rather than the modified one... Risking repeating myself, but remove the spoiler altogether, lower it, and I think it could look a whole lot better.
LOGIE
I aint so keen on this it reminds me of the very ugly early hyundai coupes. thoughts? http://cars.uk.msn.com/news/toyota-gt-86-sports-car-revealed
Gaz6002
Reposted more times than the letter A. Oh, and it's called GT86 now.

Gaz6002
Also heard a rumour today it'll be auto-only in the UK. Cue the moaning
AndrewOW
With my experience of Toyota autos, I'd imagine it's not too bad, plus it's probably very sophisticated. Possibly.

Not recent ones mate, believe me. CVT is the devil's work (although I'm not sure what sort of 'box will be in the GT).
AndrewOW
Oh, and just when I was coming around to liking it too.
Kirk
So lets do a comparison. Here is the 86 and the BRZ And here is the FR-S As you can see only subtle differences between them. Onto interiors. 86 and BRZ And finally the FR-S All rounder IMO goes to the 86 but obviously not in that horrible orange.

tbourner
I'd have an auto anyway, getting too old for all this moving my arm nonsense.
kill1308
It's not particularly good looking is it? Reminds me a bit of a Z4 Coupe I think.
nige-rz
I fear I may be slightly changing my opinion already. I know this is a concept FT thats been modified, but I suppose it wouldnt be a massive amount of work to do this to the prodution model. For what its worth, in white with similar wheels, its a cracking looking car.
Thorin
Nope don't like it.
Gaz6002
OK, latest rumours/info about the car: It won't be auto only, it'll have a manual 'box with auto as an option Toyota is working on a supercharger which should provide around 100bhp extra A colleague I spoke to last night who is in Japan and drove it this week said it's the best balanced car he's driven in years. That really is high praise.
j_jza80
I'm sure it will be a fantastic drive, and I can even understand the looks may have needed to change for practical reasons. I can't understand why it's so expensive! The development costs were shared, they've used existing technologies and it's not well spec'd. It's not much cheaper than a 370z, and that's much faster, much better spec'd and developed 'in house' by Nissan. I suspect it will be somewhat cheaper in Japan and the US, and once again we'll get shafted!
Jellybean
I suspect it will be somewhat cheaper in Japan and the US, and once again we'll get shafted! I will take your shafted price and Multiple it X2 = Irish Price

It also weighs significantly more, has a more dated suspension setup and isn't built half as well.

Gaz6002
The Toyota or Datsun ? The Datsun. Don't get me wrong - I do like the 370z but it doesn't do it for me like this 86 does.
