Kirk
The power is also quite disappointing. It was never designed with huge power in mind from the offset, it was designed to be simple, light and fun, not for lap times like all the cars of this day and age. Dave
there are some cars that when you look at them you think yeah thats nice ,but that is butt ugly think the hyundai looks better. toyota epic FAIL boys
supra steveo
oh no ............... i think the design team needs put up against the wall and shot , why cant they ask a car owner/tuners forum, like ours, to contribute to the designing of their new sports car ? i think a few designers would lose their jobs
Bobbeh
True, really dissapointing, but thats what happens when all the executives get involved in the production process.
wile e coyote
realy disapointed with that was looking forward to this. will have to see what subaru come up with then
Gaz6002
Awful colour press pic but I don't think it's that bad. Will be nice and cheap too... and tuneable
Gaz6002
Also, marvel at how it's isn't called Celica, and isn't the new Supra
johnny g
I think that 6 months from launch, there'll be a kit, OEM or aftermarket, to make it look more like the initial concept.
Digsy
oh no ............... i think the design team needs put up against the wall and shot , why cant they ask a car owner/tuners forum, like ours, to contribute to the designing of their new sports car ? i think a few designers would lose their jobs Because this is a forum for owners of cars that were on the drawing board twenty years ago. Having said that, it is one fugly car.
Samurai 20V
Saw this car in the flesh today, it does not look good at all.. The lines are not as sleek as the concept at all.. Really botched up.. The wheels are too small, the pipes are too small, the interior is bland.. I can go on and on.. Disappointing..
Gaz6002
I'd have one.
tbourner
I like it. Not keen on the rear light clusters, and it isn't as nice as the concept, but they never are. I like the arches more though and it looks nice at the front generally.

Abz
Also, marvel at how it's isn't called Celica, and isn't the new Supra Isn't that because it is supposed to be joint work from Subaru & Toyota? The concept looks a lot better (doesn't it always), I'll reserve judgement till I see it in the flesh but so far it doesn't look too good! Chris Wilson
Did three different designers, with no communication between them, do the front, middle and back, or something? Gandini, Michelotto and Ghia eat your hearts out
Gaz6002
Isn't that because it is supposed to be joint work from Subaru & Toyota? No, it's because it's based on the AE86. Subaru will be building its own version.
tbourner
I prefer the rear of the Subaru.

Kirk
After reading this article and seeing it in different colours I think I've changed my mind. I like it, looks aggressive on track even if the wheels are a bit lost in the arches and a tad small. Can't wait for a drive of one http://speedhunters.com/archive/2011/11/27/new-car-gt-a-closer-look-at-the-toyota-86.aspx

alex2jz
It's got one positive aspect to it. It's not called Supra ... (Thank God)
Kirk
Meh I dont think its that far off the concept TBH. The only things that I don't like are the wheels and the back lights but that's about it apart from that I think its a winner.
nige-rz
It really looks like a face lifted version of the Hyundai coupé. Such a shame aswell, it had all the makings of a fun, decent looking car, something I feel Toyota hasn't offered for a long long time. a98pmalcolm
Its not the worst car I've seen but the concept was better
