creative
Bit of a long shot. I have acquired a bike and have no idea what it is! It's in fairly good nick, needs some parts etc but overall looks ok or easy fixable. It has Suzuki on one side of the engine and 900cc on the other side. Anybody able to have a stab at a model type from the pics? I can take more if I need to! Ta!
Dnk
Well its a 2 stroke and if its a Suzuki its possibly an RM 125, RM 250 etc Looks like an early air cooled version as well 900 cc will be the amount of oil that goes in the engine i'd have thought
welshbuddy
Thats a 4stroke mate, youcan tell by tailpipe and head, by looks of it, its not even a suzuki looks like a chinese copy of something. Also tell by steering column mate.
markg1150
gotta be honest looks like a chinease 150cc bike to me. definatly not an suzy rm 125/250 thay where water cooled. and that looks air cooled. (cylinder fins and no rad) check the head stock for the chassis number if pos. early rm`s would have had "right way up forks" to. plus suzuki usually run with showa suspension if i remember correctly. google chinease 161 fjm engine does it look like that? .the chinese copys are realy starting to look very simlar to the jap stuff. b_have
Looks like an old air-cooled TM engine fitted in a contemporary chassis. Good luck with fabricating the expansion chamber
creative
That's what I thought but I haven't been able to find a picture of the engine to match this one. Found a chassis plate on it that says its a may 2008 build. It's missing battery, manifold, the carb needs attention and the correct kick starter fitting. It seems to click through gears ok and clutch lever feels ok. Brakes work ok, needs a new chain as well. Overall for what I paid for it ...($000) I don't mind spending a bit of cash on it to get it running again. The engine that looks like its been painted black It's definitely got a Suzuki logo on the other side of the engine
Dnk
Well whatever it is its definitely an air cooled 2 stroke
creative
I think it may be a 1979 rm 250 engine.. It certainly looks the same so maybe it's a 2008 chassis with an older engine fitted?
Dnk
Its almost definitely an early Suzuki motor, i used to race one but the memories not that great anymore The frames aren't the same though even acounting for if it had had a single shock conversion done
creative
Well I think the engine is a 1978 rm 250... Not the 79. Had chance to have a butchers at the bike today and it's had the engine points welded in (very badly i may add!) The kick start fouls the chassis but overall i think it is workable. Looking at the chassis, it looks like its had a water cooled engine in previously as it has the mounting points for a rad still in place as well as the plastic fins under the fairing etc. No real clues except on the chassis plate it says 'dirt bike' and the chassis and engine number along with the build date. Edit: bit more googling and I think it's an Xmoto frame
