I have an 2010 3.0 TDi Q7 SE model. It's a huge car lol but surprisingly economical. If set the suspension to "Dynamic" on motorway cruises I average almost 30mpg cruising at 70+ ( :p ) Normal driving I average around 21-25mpg. MPG only drop to around mid teens if I get stuck in traffic with heaters on etc... The car I have comes with all the toys inside though so it's a very nice place to be.

I would ensure that it is under some kind of warranty or something though because if something breaks it's gonna be VERY expensive. Other than that its a very capable car. I have yet to try the "Off road" mode though but tbh I don't expect much :)

edit: I keep saying "I" but its actually the missus car, I get to drive it in the weekends :p

silly question but is it easy to manouvere (car is for the missus aswell).

any common problems ?

Tbh I have problems parking it in tight spaces (the wing mirrors are HUGE so take notices of that although it helps with visibility). Does your are come with any form of parking aid? It's really highly recommended unless you want to get out of the car everything to check :p Mine comes with a reversing camera which helps but the beeping aid helps a lot too.

My missus drives the car most of the time and she does fine (overall visibility much better than my previous bus Renaul Grand Espace)- its just tight parking spots that she has problems with. Your family will be safe in this tank :)

edit: I am not aware on common problems but as with any car it needs to be properly maintained (there are a lot of cheap Q7s out there and they are cheap for a reason :p) The air suspension is one of the main concerns as I've heard so you might want to thoroughly test that out :) The 3.0 TDi engine is rock solid and very smooth too. I think the car max out at around 120mph (not that I've tried...honest...) though but that shouldn't be much of an issue :p

looking to buy one in next week or two.( 3.0tdi s line 07-08.)

any advice or tips welcome,.

fuel economy am used to that with JDM cars lol

I can use my Rangey to pull you out of the snow when you get stuck in the Q7. I use it quite often to help immobilised X5s and Q7s in my local area.

Whoever designed the Audi needs shooting.

No doubt the LAND Rover is the king of off roaders. Not too sure about the Rangey though its more of a WAG car isn't it? ;) Katie Price has one in pink.

edit: Oh wait, here it is to you Rangey fans :

It still looks nicer than one of those Q7's, JC.

If you say so hun ... :limp:

Seriously though... Q7 is not without its flaws and I will not class the Q7 as a true "Off Roader". If you want a true Off roader get a Land Rover or a Defender. Not dissing the Range Rover but it's just as bad (that's why its favoured by WAGs and footballers...)

Guest Ximenez

My dad owns a Q7 3.0 TDI.

We have the Audi for 5 years now (or almost). Really never had a problem with it. its a great car, huge and luxery.

He did 140.000km in 5 years, But dont expect a fast car. Parking is not realy a problem with this car, the mairrors are automatic foldable.

And when you have this car, its so big you are allowed to park on 2 parking places instead of one ;)

The only bad thing I can remember so far, is the problem with changing the rims when you have air suspension. Its pretty difficult to lock the air suspension so you are able to change the rims.

Good luck with it

i need the occasional 7 seats mate as when we got to linzi mams (nobody drives) so when we all go out me and linzi have to take 2 cars to fit 7 people.

Based on experience then I would recommend you the Q7 :) Great balance of luxury, comfort and space. I missed out performance because honestly there is none (except if you fork out for the V12!!!)

I've had my mum buying XC90s for her last couple of cars. Nothing touches them for ease of use and running costs in the class. The TDi q7s / Tauregs appear to have some very expensive common faults.

The Volvos seats are amazing too, I've done various 10-15 hour drives in it and I'm still comfortable when I get out. Fuel economy betters 35mpg on a run too which is good.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr, No, JC! The RR Vogue is a super bit of off-road kit as long as you don't put those crappy low profile tyres on the thing. The Q7 with its low profile pimped-up wheels is as much good as tits on a fish in the snow; and off-road come to think of it too.

If all you have to do is normal driving with no adverse conditions then a Q7 will do the job like any other normal car, plus it has lots of space which is always a bonus.

I can recall watching a lady last year parking a Q7 in the Tesco car park in Durham and what a laugh indeed. I'm sure it will be the only 47-point turn that I will ever see in my life.

It'll do a lot more that that!

Nice cars. Good on fuel for what they are and in my opinion best 4x4 on the road at the moment, I test drove the Range Rover (underpowered) and X5 (better drive but slightly less capacity and I prefered Q7 looks wise) - idealy get a facelift, Sline will get you the body kit, facelift Sline comes with xennons and other bits as standard, also consider that the new Q7 comes out next year so prices of this model are likely to drop a tad

There are also issues with headlight lenses fogging up, even on newer models, mine have been replaced twice under warranty and still do the same, Audi reckon its 'part of the design'

HTH

Are you referring to a nice looking 4x4 that drives well on the road or the best 4x4 with off road capability?

I test drove the Range Rover (underpowered)

Is that the old or new diesel, or a new petrol version that you tried and tested. I would be interested to know. My Supercharged Vogue pulls like a train.

If it was the older diesel-style with the smaller engines then you would be correct sir. Those variants are very poor indeed but they are cheap.
