If you look at servicing over the next five years I would bet my single Supra will be far cheaper than that beemer. :D Modern diesels are a nightmare IMO, especially if you are not thrashing them up and down the motorway everyday.

 

Are you referring to the DPF? That's less of a common problem than you'd think :)

I know a lot of people having DPF related issues - mostly people who pootle around town/suburbia and never do any long journeys. I heard there was something on TV (Watchdog or similar) about the new little Fiat 500? that is having lots of issues with the DPFs not regenerating. I was also referring to inlet manifold butterflies and actuators clogging up, control diaphragms splitting, EGR valve assemblies sooting up, dual mass flywheels wearing out.....

That's nothing :D My dad's 2001 diesel Astra is about 200miles off 300,000miles now. Going to look at another one this week as it's proven the most reliable motor we've ever had.
