hodge
I'm going to fit an extra fuel pressure sensor for my Syvecs. Can I fit the sensor in the fuel feed line? Cheers John
Scott
Can you not tap it into the rail? If not there are end fittings for the rails that you can put sensors into. It would just pull your line out slightly.

Scott
You can probably get a Y piece for the top of the FPR if that's any good? You could even replace the FPR gauge with the sensor, not really much use once it's set if you are monitoring via the ECU.
johnny g
Ideal would be after the rail (to see rail pressure drop) but before the regulator. Don't put it after the regulator, though. Fit this inline and screw the 1/8NPT in it, IIRC
hodge
The regulator "should pressurize the whole system inc the feed line. I don't want it in view, that would be sacrilege. I'm sure I've seen them fitted in the feed line before the rail.

hodge
Have it fitted pointing downards out of the way so it can't be seen But I know it's there and that's an extra 2 wires into the bay and that's clutter under the plenum. I know I'm being rediculous but needs must. I'm not sacrificing what I've already created for compromise now.

It's going to have to be in the bay one way or another though as it will be between the FPR and the fuel rail.
johnny g
Could you tap the rail for a 1/8NPT feed and run from there?

johnny g
He's got it in his mind now that it won't be there. Expect to find it in the rooflining or something Edited November 23, 2011 by johnny g (see edit history)
hodge
I'm going to run a -10AN fuel line and run it from where the fuel filter is.
hodge
Going to use 1 of these. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150699261870?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_771wt_689

Ive just spoke to Ryan and he said it would work ok in the line so I'll just go for that. Cheers John
Chris Wilson
Pressure sensors are best in the fuel line, they don't much like vibration and heat. In general they can be a bit unreliable fitted straight into the block (say for oil pressure) or straight into the fuel rail. I tend to fit them away from the engine on -3 hose. Guest ugp
Can the Defi sensor not be tapped into and the signal supplied to the Syvecs?

Great stuff, thanks Chris into the fuel line it goes then. You've just saved me 2 extra wires in my engine bay, which makes me smile
Chris Wilson
I have probably saved you 3 wires, which is what most pressure sensors have (5 volts, ground and signal).
