pc world have wrecked my pc and sending me vouchers after 2 months of arguments.Problem is they have to replace to the same spec as my old one and i dont want to get fobbed off with some junk.

my old specs

philips hepc7602

intel q6600 processor

2.4ghz,1066mhz FSB,8mb cache

genuine vista ® home premium

4gb memory

1 tb hard drive

dvd re-writer

512mb n vidia geforce 9600 gt graphics

4 usb port

onboard LAN

I have no idea what any of that means and dont know what that would compare to now.Things like processors and graphics cards.I presume the LAN ment it was a wireless machine.Any advice would be great as im thick when it comes to computers.

dont know how much yet,its going to be a pain i think.Even though i have pc worlds insurance on it they are the ones who damaged it while it was away for a seperate repair. What i need to know is what computer in thier range would be of the same spec as my old one. This way i can demand that as a replacement,

First of all take it as lesson learned where PC world are concerned. They are absolutely clueless and their prices are ridiculous for the service/products they supply.

I would shoot for this...

I wouldn't hold out much hope as it blows your old system out the water but as far as a middle of the road home PC I would say that isn't bad.

I just had a nose at the spec of that machine. According to the website apparently 4+4 = 6

RAM 6GB (4GB + 4GB), DDR3, 1333Mhz

ok cheers .I know they are crap now.it went away as it wouldnt turn on,but they actually broke the usb ports some how and cant get the replacement part. They

dont even do the repairs now either

I havnt been offerd anything specific.they just rang me to say that they have voucher codes for me in store but dont know the value yet.Ive told them it better be enough for me to get a pc the same spec .The tech guys in store have said they will sort that out if its not enough

Surprised they aren't just replacing the motherboard. In fact, it's mental lol.

they changed something inside and sent it back with an external usb hub tapped to the pc.

Lol, unbelievable.

When they break a USB port it's either part of the motherboard or part of the case. In order to fix it you replace the broken part (motherboard or case) and the job is done.

Even if the same motherboard couldn't be found, an upgraded replacement could easily be put in its place. Same goes for the case.

It's just nuts that they are making such hard work of this.

was going to try and push a bit more as mine had wireless built in and had a small ariel on the back.but as it comes with a dongo for the wireless i thought id leave it.I think it was due to the fact that i had that graphics card in my old one and the store manager just wanted shot of me as ive been in store 4-5 times now ranting .The vouchers didnt cover the price but he raised the amount in store .
