barneybrendan
pc world have wrecked my pc and sending me vouchers after 2 months of arguments.Problem is they have to replace to the same spec as my old one and i dont want to get fobbed off with some junk. my old specs philips hepc7602 intel q6600 processor 2.4ghz,1066mhz FSB,8mb cache genuine vista ® home premium 4gb memory 1 tb hard drive dvd re-writer 512mb n vidia geforce 9600 gt graphics 4 usb port onboard LAN I have no idea what any of that means and dont know what that would compare to now.Things like processors and graphics cards.I presume the LAN ment it was a wireless machine.Any advice would be great as im thick when it comes to computers. Thorin
So does it have to be an "equivalent spec" PC from PCWorld? Is there no price limit?
barneybrendan
It has to be the same spec which is why i need to find something so i know they have allowed me enough.the pc is also wireless which is built in.Also the tower on its own was £
Scott
Do you know how much they are sending you or are you asking so that we can advise how much that sort of spec will cost?
DamanC
Its a pretty old setup tbh. Knowing PC would you probably only brought it 6 months ago! To buy the same rig again shouldn't be more than £400. What's the value of the vouchers, then perhaps we can point you in the direction of their site and to a particular model. barneybrendan
dont know how much yet,its going to be a pain i think.Even though i have pc worlds insurance on it they are the ones who damaged it while it was away for a seperate repair. What i need to know is what computer in thier range would be of the same spec as my old one. This way i can demand that as a replacement,

They are absolutely clueless and their prices are ridiculous for the service/products they supply. I would shoot for this... http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/advent-dt1410-desktop-pc-11290860-pdt.html I wouldn't hold out much hope as it blows your old system out the water but as far as a middle of the road home PC I would say that isn't bad. letmeshowyou
Their website seems to give you the ability to narrow down spec for desktops... have you tried doing that with the info you have? Agreed with Daman, the processor isn't particularly up to date. Last time this happened to me, they offered me something specific. Take it this hasn't happened in this instance? Scott
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/advent-dt1411-desktop-pc-11290952-pdt.html In fact, shoot for that one. It has a reasonable GFX card in it which the other one doesn't.

Scott
they changed something inside and sent it back with an external usb hub tapped to the pc. Lol, unbelievable. When they break a USB port it's either part of the motherboard or part of the case. In order to fix it you replace the broken part (motherboard or case) and the job is done. Even if the same motherboard couldn't be found, an upgraded replacement could easily be put in its place. Same goes for the case. It's just nuts that they are making such hard work of this.
