jonathanc
While tidying up the garage we found the long lost XBOX Pro 20GB. I've plugged it in and surpringly it's still working and just applied the update. Besides the fan being slightly noisy and the HDMI 1080p resolution a bit dodgy everything seems fine. My missus + kids wants Kinect for the Christmas and I've found a spare USB port which should support this. However, I am wondering if there's any difference performance wise with the newest XBox'es? From Wiki I gathered most difference are cosmetic bar a bigger, WIFI and optical out as standard? Real world terms is it worth buying the full bundle instead of just buying the KINECT sensor + Games? I am not a big console fan so this will be mostly for the missus and kids to have fun on the KINECT (I got the PS "eye" thingy and imo that is really rubbish!) SupraDan24
Not much differences tbh, the new one has wireless, is quieter and HDMI output as standard. As far as the Kinect goes, i'm not a massive fan either but if it were me id just go for the bundle and save hassle.
Graham1984
Yeah kinect is gimic stuff like an updated nintendo wi really with better games. The console itself should be fine the new black models have larger memory storage but you can get memory cards that slot in the front like the playstations had and have built in wi-fi over the ethernet cable that goes in the back, places like asda sell high def cables for about £8 which works fine over the stock adapter with the high def switch and as for the fan they are renowned as pants hence why you can buy an upgraded plug in one (obvious admittance by microsoft it is crap without recalling it) If due to space you cant plug into the hub with a eternet cable (gamestation do sell them with massive leads) laptops and desktop computers can be used as a wi-fi connection if having a long lead is not feasible. Graham1984
I think there is a setting on the dashboard to change the resolution if I remember right.

Yup it's already on 1080p widescreen. Just doesn't look as sharp as the PS3 lol but that could just be me My missus/kids wants that dancing game and it does look good on KINECT. Easy Xmas presents lol.
RobD
Just be careful what kinect you get as from what I can remember there's 2 different types of kinects you can get, the new xbox powers the kinect direct whereas the old xbox won't so you'll have to get the kinect that you plug into the mains ( I think) not overly sure but seem to remember that from a conversation I had with a lad in gamestation when I bought one, I had it 2 weeks and sold it as I thought it was crap! Just a wii in HD basically and you need a lot of space to play it properly!

We all tried the dancing game in PC World and it's fantastic (comparing to our Wii games...) Well I guess I will keep an eye out for offers on Kinect only
st3ven1
All kinects are the same and come with all the cables to work with any xbox 360. The new Xbox 360 "s" are much quieter, wifi built in, hdmi connection, and only require one cable to the kinect. An older xbox 360 requires the kinect to be powered separately. The xbox dash board is about to receive a big update to make it fully controllable with kinect, should be amazing.

If your buying new you'll be fine. The only difference with the old console and the newer slim is that the old console needs the power supply as well which comes in the box as standard. If your buying a pre-owned kinect, just make sure and ask for one with the power supply if your using it on your 20GB console..
jonathanc
Might trade in our current XBOX for the latest version bundled with Kinect I think. Was thinking of trading in our older PS3 too but to be honest I can't let it go just yet
st3ven1
"gunsmith" on the new Ghost Recon game. For the child in all of us, this looks excellent fun.
