ok so we cleaerly have no laptop techies in ,..... but is there any other way of going down a line by using other buttons, e.g shift control ect

Craig,

Quite a long winded way but you could use the 'Tab' key (the right above caps lock with the two arrows pointing each way).

You could also keep pressing the space bar until it goes down where you need it going.

Strange what is does, have you tried disconnecting the laptop battery & live it out for 15 minutes or so & then reconnect again? Check keyboard settings by going to Control Panel (presume you are using Windows).

Click the windows/start button on the bottom left and type in "keyboard" in the search programmes and files box and the keyboar options should be in there. You should be able to change the standard setup to a custom one but obviously you only want to change the enter key to something else so just use any key that you never use or alternatively if you have a separate number panel of 1-9 numbers to the right of your enter key and not the ones under F1-F12 you should have another enter key on their anyway.
