Been away on training for last 2 weeks and came back to wife telling me somebody had nicked petty cash from office. Had to be a staff member as there was no break in. Police informed who have managed to get finger prints so just need to make sure there not mine or mandys then will need all staffs finger prints. Have told them if they just hand back the mony then nothing more will happen.

Will you just let them off if they hand it back? Have they got to hand it to you, other have you told them to leave it somewhere so no one knows who did it?

If it were me, I'd take the risk and not hand it back if you want it given to you in fear of getting a good telling off or the sack. If there's an option to just leave it somewhere secretly, I'd do it then.

We are fairly relaxed here in the office but never had anything like this happen since i started in 98. So now im taking no chances and will not trust anybody. Had a couple arentaces start over last 3 months.Makes me want to not bother giving these numpties a job.

So, would you allow them to hand it back anonymously, or would you want to know who it was? If it were me and I'd done it, I think I'd be too scared to hand it back in person and admit it.

I doubt anyone will hand it back. Worrying that someone would do that especially in a small company.

I would make an open offer to all the staff and give them to the end of the week to leave it somewhere where you will find it. Not easy though to return it without being sussed.
