boost controller dramas

Recommended Posts

went to fit a blitz dual sbc the way it was shown on here in an old thread and all i got was black smoke out the exhaust an massive boost dramas. it said to cap the wastegate hoses and the bottom of the actuator but it seemed the girl couldnt breath and just spluttered. after this i was out of ideas and put everything back the way it was, but still having the boost problem. its fine in first, then gets to around 2500revs and seems like the exhaust is going to get blown of or something is going to make a very unwanted bang in the engine so i have to let off. this gets worse the higher the gear. anyone got any advice? it would be greatly appreciated

Take it to someone who knows what they are doing would be my advice bud. Boost control has to be done properly and it can be hard to tell the difference between the actuator ports from the pictures. It's very easy to mix them up and connect up the wrong parts.

thats why i put everything back to the way it was but still having the problem. the guy who helped me fitted one to his skyline gtst but obviously that was a single and mine is a twin. any ideas why the problem is persisting even though everything is now back the way it was before?

I only really have 2 guesses to be honest.

1. Something is blown. (Could be anything from an IC pipe to a turbo)

2. It's not put back the way it was, it just looks that way.

Best to take it to someone who can phsyically look at it. Most things like that are fixed in minutes or not at all.

the control unit was still in place in the engine......is there a possibility that that could have something to do with it? i have taken it out now, but havnt driven it yet. any chance the control unit could have been messing with the boost even though the solenoid wasnt hooked up?

it has a FMIC so think those are good. was just on the phone to a different "mate" and from what ive described he reckons its a boost pipe as he said he had the same symptoms on his r33 gtr and another car hes had and thats what it was on both of those

quick spin thismorning, still not pulling properly. Opened the bonnet, had a quick look, and within 30 secs saw the problem. its amazing what daylight can do lol. where the control unit was spliced in, one of the hoses had come off the other end, which i didnt pick up yesterday. so now, shes running fine, pulling properly, and back to her normal self :D

yeah fair one. thats all i did thismorning was go over all the hoses and make sure everything was where it was meant to be. obviously because it was dark last night didnt notice that one tiny hose. thanks for all the help dude, and i posted a thread in the newbie forum about becoming a full member, and how to do it.....i found something on here about it the other day but cant for the life of me find it today lol

To anyone who can help.....seen my "useful" mate yesterday in the end and recommends to filter the actuator and wastegate hoses. And ive seen on here two different opinions of either leaving them with the hoses on or removing them and capping the pipes. So to anyone who has dsbc fitted what did you do? Or what would you recommend to do? My mates not really done supras much, more of a skyline man, so advice on the best route would be helpful. Cheers
