CJ
I am pretty sure I know the answer to this but thought I'd ask anyway. Firstly, are there any sat nav manufacturers that give you free updates to their maps or are they all subscription based? Secondly, are the updated maps available on torrent sites? I'm a bit out if touch with all this as there wasn't a great need for a sat nav on kos as we only had a few roads and they either went as far as the mountain or down to the beach so not too many chances to get lost -d
Lbm
Are you using an iphone or Android mobile phone Col? There are free apps on Android for this kind of thing. If not, ignore me
CJ
I'm using a lent iPhone 3G and recently downloaded a free app called navfree which a few members had been using and could recommend. Unfortunately, when I tried it all I got was a message saying gps signal was poor and it could not locate a road near to me. This was despite me taking it to high ground on a clear day and so I gave that up as a bad job. I know I can get paid for apps for this too but after that experience I am loathe to chance it and decided to go for a standalone
Chris Wilson
I bought a map upgrade for my Garmin 7200 in the truck, legit. off the Garmin website. I loaded it and now the damned thing says the map is out of date and i have to press several buttons to move on. It *WAS* an old set of maps before I upgraded, now it's a pita. I wish I hadn't bothered.
