Ceptik
Is there anyone, anywhere in the world that can make up a replacement VIN plate. One is missing and i think its fairly important to have one.
jamesgtr
Go to a Toyota dealer. Will take anything up to 6 months depending on how quickly Toyota GB gets a reply from the Police. Will need full report on how it went missing, proof of ownership, etc.. Cost? Anything up to £200.

Ian W
out of interest on this, would a jap import have a vin plate? and if so would it be in japenese or english would it be changed when imported etc? jap imports have an equivalent to a VIN plate iirc. not changed when imported and the main details are in English but with some jap writing along the bottom. EDITED: looks like i'm actually wrong. dammit. EDITED AGAIN: I was right and Martin's English sucks!

Jake
Yes it should have a VIN plate. No it shouldn't have been touched/altered by anyone during the import process. They look like this: http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/5591/chassisplateexample2lr.th.jpg and can be found on the passenger side inner wing. You can see one in this pic: http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/7059/vvtienginebay3bd.th.jpg There's also the chassis number stamped into the bodywork, at the top of the bulkhead. You can see it at the rear of the engine in this pic: http://img134.imageshack.us/img134/3324/chassisnumber0kt.th.jpg
