ManwithSupra
There is not a chance you will be last. ManwithSupra
especially with the amount of offers you will have for help anything does go wrong i remember when i was at cadwell park and mo in the white rx7 blew his gearbox up the day before i offered to help him out and change it. Everyone there was like what are you doing, if he does not complete you automatically come 2nd. He beat me by 0.2 sec on the day lol

ManwithSupra
Ha cheers Chris, they did come through, not sure why it failed your end, thanks for posting them here though. For those who are interested here are some pics of the my new OS Giken TR-2CD clutch Chris is now working on the Concentric release setup (this needs to be done properly) and will probably end up going for a Tilton unit, which is good as there are plenty of spares for these as well. Chris I am guessing its going to be the 4000 series?? As there is nothing useful to mount the release bearing onto, a custom plate is being made up which will bolt to the gearbox bell adapter plate. Chris will be updating me with pictures as he does the work so will update here with the progress. I have also decided to move the Paddleshifter air pump and air tank to the boot as this will end up being closer to the valve body (less distance the better) it will also be much much cooler. ManwithSupra
Sorry for the gap in the updates, there has not really been much I can get on with until I get the gearbox really, well apart from hoses and looms which well is pretty boring... here is a cable, here is a hose... hmmm yay. Chris had now made the adapter ring for the concentric release he had to give us a drawing of it as his camera is on a day out but its looking good. I love stuff thats made properly https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/10926217_804464819628163_2449149103801212364_n.jpg?oh=3265652443db68c3a4b1d1561dd81033&oe=557A918D Should all be coming together very soon. ManwithSupra
So got the gearbox from Chris after he has done all the work with the release bearing and adapter plate. Was nice to put a face to the name, cheers Chris for all the work you have done on this, I am sure that others will echo my praise. So I started putting the box together after getting it back, Started with fitting the concentric release and adapter plate onto the box https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11081464_806688539405791_4988870916956958361_n.jpg?oh=3c951037feefcf63f85c10b7244a563e&oe=55ABFD53&__gda__=1437755354_3c59bf5db54f3737a82f32574e164325 https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/v/t1.0-9/10881525_806688652739113_759184128259629348_n.jpg?oh=5a0bdaeb34c8573ed66d0d3742348d50&oe=55B0D0F4&__gda__=1433802953_87dbd9e58fba0a78258ce756b070b417 Installed the two channel gear position barrel sensor for the geartronics paddle shift kit. https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/11076244_806688716072440_5560675967255566705_n.jpg?oh=e6420a2261d304b216f009d12ec38c63&oe=55A72919&__gda__=1437031080_a0b90e9677679a95424307280418d45d And Finally fitted the bellhousing onto the adapter plate https://scontent-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xfp1/v/t1.0-9/11081140_806688792739099_5127574115084839558_n.jpg?oh=a9be2b13e9be2a926c5894b8c5ddac8d&oe=55B7D278 https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/11059349_806688889405756_9116170751768921740_n.jpg?oh=b32379b07b6b286bcd47c27b824dc2bc&oe=55B1F4A5&__gda__=1437803215_697682939e6d059e872982bf20e8c229 Now just need to bolt the new clutch onto the engine and test fit the box, so I can make up the rear support bracket. Once that is done I can get the box bolted into place and get the propshaft modified. Its finally coming together. T2 MSW
That is a seriously impressive piece of kit. Have you weighed all the new setup to find out if there is a weight saving in the box and all the support system with the geartronics setup as apposed to the setup you had before?? Have you weighed all the new setup to find out if there is a weight saving in the box and all the support system with the geartronics setup as apposed to the setup you had before?? It is still lighter but there is not much in it, once you include all the looms, adapters, hoses, fittings, pump etc, I have yet to do a final weigh in but on paper I dont think there more than 2kg in it. Still I never expected a great weight loss from changing the box, its more of the protection it offers to both itself and the engine, not to mention the driveability of the car, quicker shifts vs the V160 and that lovely straight cut whine... - - - Updated - - - Love seeing this thread being updated, the work that has gone into this is simply awesome Very impressive mate. ManwithSupra
Cheers, getting the Giken clutch on next.. quick question actually, flywheel bolts.. do I need to use any Threadlock? Also what torque should these be? I seem to be absent any documentation from Giken with regards the clutch :-S
pedrosixfour
36 lb/fts + 90° mate. That's a standard flywheel. Tread lock is never going to do any harm so I'd say work way. Medium strength would be plenty though, high strength/stud lock would be overkill.

Ha, yeah I was thinking that the other day, loads of material on there that could be removed easily enough. I was happier coming to get it as well to be honest, was cheaper as well, if something had of happened with a courier it would have delayed things further. The drive wasn't too bad in the end, 7 hours all in all, Ended up getting home around 2pm and falling asleep on the sofa though.

Jellybean
Awesome sauce What Giken Clutch is that? Let me know how the pedal is
Chris Wilson
With a stock Giken movement alteration kit the pedal is virtually the same as a stock clutch. It'll probably be lighter still with the concentric release. There may be need for some experiment by Richard with master cylinder sizes, I suggest starting with a 3/4 inch bore one. Clutch is a TR2CD.
Jellybean
Thanks , taught it was the TR2CD, was thinking of getting the Grand touring or Street master it is called State side, its rated 700 versus 600hp and you get the movement alteration kit with it Read you need to use OEM Nissan Flywheel Bolts, - JZA80: 7x Nissan OEM Flywheel Bolts (P/N 12315-42L11) are required http://www.rhdjapan.com/os-giken-street-master-clutch-kit-twin-metal-hard-with-converter-kit.html
