On another note, it seems that my car suits the Toyota Sprint Series in the Pro Tuner Class so thats nice to fall back on if TA falls through.

Man-up and do both will ya!

The upcoming CFD sounds promising.

Do me a favour and roll a few wheelie bins into the room for the last five minutes of the scanning session.

On other news, after going to the Autosport show on Friday I found a company called TotalSim (http://www.totalsimulation.co.uk/wp/) that does car 3D scanning and CFD. After speaking with them on email at length today I should be getting the entire car 3D scanned (including the flat floor and diffuser) and getting some CFD done on its current setup.

Will be nice to see visually where the improvements can be made :)

Wow! That sounds very interesting! Could you tell us how much a scan and CFD simulation will cost? :)

The prices are still being bantered around. I am trying to get them to settle on something which will suit my needs, I will update once things have been agreed.

Although a nice little thing, I have decided to go for the Geartronics full closed loop pneumatic air shift system for the new gearbox setup.

This will mainly reduce wear on the dog rings as well as having clutch less downshifts, it will also speed up the gearchange and allow both hands on wheel at all times, it will also stop over revving on manual downshifts :D

Should be fun :D

Wow very nice matey, should be fun, is it going to be wired into a Syvecs ECU?

No I am afraid not, I haven't got an S8 so I will be using the GCU with the paddle kit.

It only requires the S6 to provide RPM and TPS info and a execute a torque cut based on the signal from the GCU for upshifts.

The rest is wired into the GCU if I read the Schematic properly.

Confirmed my Sequential gearbox will be delivered on the 27th, its going to Chris Wilson's first to get the Concentric hub bearing release sorted.

Then its time to fit, get a new custom prop shaft, install all the carbon panels, fabricate a few brackets etc install the air shifter kit and then start testing... going to be a busy few weeks!!

I'm actually really really excited.. :D

For those who want to know these are the ratio's I have chosen...

1st 2.653

2nd 1.745

3rd 1.306

4th 1.000

5th 0.850

6th 0.762

On a 4.083 Diff running a rolling circumference of 1954.78mm

which equates to.. these speeds/rev drops (rev limit 7200rpm)

Top Speed in 1 gear = 48.441 MPH

And changes into 2 gear at 4736 RPM dropping 2464 RPM

Top Speed in 2 gear = 73.647 MPH

And changes into 3 gear at 5389 RPM dropping 1811 RPM

Top Speed in 3 gear = 98.403 MPH

And changes into 4 gear at 5513 RPM dropping 1687 RPM

Top Speed in 4 gear = 128.515 MPH

And changes into 5 gear at 6120 RPM dropping 1080 RPM

Top Speed in 5 gear = 151.194 MPH

And changes into 6 gear at 6455 RPM dropping 745 RPM

Top Speed in 6 gear = 168.655 MPH

I will of course flood this thread with the build photo's test videos etc..

Sounds good.

How did you decide on the gear ratios & Rev drops ? was it an option list for each gear ?

Yeah you have a selection of ratios you can choose although not all ratios can be used together.

I looked at the speed data from the car on various tracks and came to the conclusion that these ratio's would best suit my needs.

The top speed is a little high however I wanted the extra legs for tracks like silverstone where the straights are pretty long.

The rev drops are done by a bit of software Quaife supply so you know what you are getting before you get it :)

All the kit need has started to arrive for the paddle shift loom :)

I am using MIL spec Raychem Spec-55 wire for the main loom, Deutsch DTM style connectors and Raychem D25 sleeving - along with other various bits, etc.

I will also be renewing the entire engine and chassis loom with this spec cabling/connectors (Deutsch AS series for the engine) at some point as well.

I know its a bit Geeky and its just some wire and connectors but I like it.

Is this to meet some regulations or just future proofing ?

Just making the whole thing reliable, at the moment the loom is pretty terrible and 80% of it is a stripped version of the original loom which is now well.. getting on a bit. I dont want to end up having issues at the track because some connector has become brittle or there is a break in the wire.

Plus I am going to be moving from old school fuses and relays to a Solid state Motorsport PDU.

If you need Deutsch DTM MIL spec connector shells and pins I keep quite a range in stock. Also Raychem heat shrink tube and some Teflon coated silver plated cable.

Ah cool, thats good know cheers :)

As is always the case with this build it is a question of quality, not quantity.

Anyway, depending on the salt content, it can play havoc with wiring connections so it is best to limit the evacuations to three a night.
