ManwithSupra
Is there a multitude of reasons to use these fittings and braided lines? I ask because, being in the forklift industry, none of it seems too far removed from the hydraulic lines & fittings I'd be used to. I mean, all the lines we use would also be steel braided, but with an extra outer protective covering of rubber, the fitting types & sizes are practically endless but most of what I see being used and described as AN fittings here I'd call JIC although not in anodised aluminium, just plated steel. Apart from the obvious weight saving is there something special about fuel set-ups that requires specialist hoses & fittings? Not particularly, apart from the obvious advantages in ease of use (swivel fittings) I would imagine its down to weight saving only really and the fact companies standardise on it - unless someone else can quantify it. I am using teflon hose and teflon fittings as this is only to keep the smell of fuel down in the car. Ah yeah, two angled fittings would be trickier to align alright, being able to sit the fittings onto the car and then set them would definitely make life easier, good point. We encountered that type of screw-on fitting in hydraulics as well, they certainly aren't as popular as the crimped/swaged fitting though. Upgrades are looking sweet-as mate. Carry on. ManwithSupra
I know I stuck this up in the wanted section but I thought I may get more views on this thread. I need to either purchase or borrow some boot lid hinges for the car. I need to measure the stock ones up and make up some lightweight billet Aluminum versions

ManwithSupra
Is that it? We want longer vids Lol, Yeah I had to cut it short as I needed to check if there were any leaks, although it was all fine and well. Longer vids to come, This one was just to test the fuel lines for leaks etc. Now onto getting the entire area sealed from the outside and constructing a carbon firewall. Chris Wilson
Not had time to read all the latest posts, but you look like you have spent a fortune on hose and fittings. Mounts up, doesn't it? I have often wondered where the break even point comes between re-usable, hand fitted alloy fittings and crimped ones and the correct hydrauilic tool and dies. Ha yeah, tell me about it, I did manage to wangle a deal with all the fittings and hoses but even with the discount it still came to a small fortune for sure. However its still well worth it in my mind, now in the event of a rear end shunt the tank wont split and pour gallons of fuel over what would be a very hot exhaust - which is a bonus. ManwithSupra
Fitted my bonnet hinges and carbon bonnet lifters last night, this should make it a little easier at the track for under bonnet checks instead of removing bonnet every time (as you need two people for that). Its not added much weight... maybe a whole 1KG but for the hassle of quick checks its well worth it. https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1.0-9/1173613_610278999046747_81950223_n.jpg https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1.0-9/1098275_610279022380078_603389706_n.jpg
Josh
Couldn't you have kept a bonnet stay in the pits instead of removing the bonnet? Those dampers sure do look good though
