pedrosixfour
Two questions for you mate; What will you do about the gaps between the tank/frame & the boot floor? & Is that set-up still in need of a firewall between the boot area & the cockpit to be completely MSA/FIA compliant? ManwithSupra
Two questions for you mate; What will you do about the gaps between the tank/frame & the boot floor? I will be making either a plate of carbon or Aluminum sheet to fill the gaps like it was before. Is that set-up still in need of a firewall between the boot area & the cockpit to be completely MSA/FIA compliant? Correct, I will be making a flat firewall to go over the entire rear section to cover the tank and seal the boot area in. Shame to cover it all up really. Ah well - - - Updated - - - Impressive attention to detail. Cheers

I will be making a flat firewall to go over the entire rear section to cover the tank and seal the boot area in. Thought you might, excellent move. Will this affect the position of the filler, it was on the C pillar up until now wasn't it? A nice set-up exiting below the firewall, between the two rear lights would be ze cherry on ze top! Correct, It was up on the C Pillar. This will be removed and filled back in. I am not sure where exactly I am going to fit the filler unit, If I cant decide by the time I am due out on track then I will have a hatch on the firewall (Which is still within guidelines) so I can fill the tank directly.. although thats a bit of a Faff.. Having the filler between the two lights would be awesome, I will need to look into that a little further I think Edited February 12, 2014 by ManwithSupra (see edit history)

pedrosixfour
I think the JGTC Supras used twin ATL filler caps on the back. I'm almost positive that a little-heard-from club member also has this set-up on a race-prepped Supra he was building to run in something like the British GT series. It's been driving me batsh1t all day trying to find anything on/from him!

The only thing is Dry break fuel systems like that, cost mega bucks. Your probably looking at £2k all in... and thats just for the filler caps (£700), filler probe (also £700) and fuel bottle (£500+) Shame as it does look good but I don't think I can stretch to that sort of money just to fill the tank I may do a similar style but have a single filler hole. ManwithSupra
Started to work on simplifying and sorting out the fuel pump wiring today. https://scontent-b-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn2/t1/1780727_595114783896502_488846990_n.jpg After, old loom removed, currently making new fuel pump loom. https://scontent-a-lhr.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1/1932304_595114850563162_1411857349_n.jpg
Josh
Good work again A central hole for filling, between the rear lights and made to look like one of the lights would be good. Could even get some red LEDs and have it flashing like the lights on F1 cars. Now that would be cool on track
ManwithSupra
Cheers I already have a rain light, I am going to be putting it in the Fog light part of the rear lights. I will Have a center plate between the two lights with a ATL filler on it and a vent for the tank. Probably wont get a chance to do that though until later on. For now I will fill the tank directly by fitting a hatch on the firewall.
ManwithSupra
Got my new swirl pot and anti return valve today, just waiting for some AN fittings and some new braided fuel lines now. https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1959721_596084933799487_1862275410_n.jpg
ManwithSupra
Done some more to the cage today and also started to do final fittings. unfortunately not all the fuel line fittings arrived in time for today so was unable to start actual installation, but even so it's starting to look like progress. Fitted and welded the steel mounting section for the pumps and swirl pot https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc3/t1/1891201_598250700249577_269343579_n.jpg Getting ready for paint https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1798555_598250723582908_1237886267_n.jpg Painted https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1798628_598250776916236_197502695_n.jpg Mocking up mounting locations https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1/1902939_598250820249565_329762502_n.jpg Installed fuel tank container into cage https://fbcdn-sphotos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1/1622622_598250850249562_1100800389_n.jpg Test fitted the fuel cell https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1901373_598250893582891_165573351_n.jpg Test fitted the lid - all fits perfect https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/t1/1654469_598250953582885_1228101066_n.jpg Changed the stock outlet fitting from a AN -6 to an -8 fitting with a Y connector for internal Walbro pumps https://fbcdn-sphotos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-frc1/t1/1966886_598251023582878_1994419655_n.jpg Bosch 044 in its new mount with the Anti return valve fitted https://fbcdn-sphotos-d-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/t1/1920104_598251076916206_437612048_n.jpg And that's all I could really do today as I started getting a crazy bad headache.... ManwithSupra
More AN teflon fuel fittings arrived last night. I have more on the way as well... must have spent a cool fortune of these so far https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn2/t1/1920083_599710773436903_1311798588_n.jpg I did also get the vice clamp attachments so I can install the fittings properly without damaging the nice anodized coating.. Wez
Very nice After making up one set for mine I now ordered them made up to length from speedflow, much easier

Wez
Indeed, my first attempt was with a -12 braided line and it was a real PITA
pedrosixfour
Is there a multitude of reasons to use these fittings and braided lines? I ask because, being in the forklift industry, none of it seems too far removed from the hydraulic lines & fittings I'd be used to. I mean, all the lines we use would also be steel braided, but with an extra outer protective covering of rubber, the fitting types & sizes are practically endless but most of what I see being used and described as AN fittings here I'd call JIC although not in anodised aluminium, just plated steel. Apart from the obvious weight saving is there something special about fuel set-ups that requires specialist hoses & fittings?
