black_widow87
Hi guys, having a problem with my dli soon as its plugged into the car it make it run very bad, nearly stalling the car. So today i popped over to simon (bignum) who let me try his DLI just so we see whether it had the same effect as my unit, which it didnt which confirmed that my unit was at fault. Now are the DLI units known to cause these kin of issues and is there any chance of perhaps repairing it as these arnt exactly cheap bits of equipment? On a positive note id like to thank bignum for his superb club spirit, thanks again matey Jake
JamieP
What ecu are you on? what does the car run like with the dli unplugged?
black_widow87
Currently using an AEM FIC. With the DLI unplugged the car runs perfect, then soon as i plug it back it it starts to splutter and cough its guts up. Noticed it idled fine when plugged in and engine was cold but soon as the engine started to warm up it starts to splutter again.
JamieP
You dont need a dli with piggy back ecu's, running to much sprark will kill the coil packs. Edit, a quote from Ryan. FIC just alters the crank and cam timing signals back to the stock ecu to retard the timing so it will still run Coil on Plug with the FIC. DLI's are only need with series 1 Aem's.. Using in setups which are not wasted spark will kill coil packs... so dont fit one Ryan Edited November 6, 2011 by JamieP (see edit history)

JamieP
If it runs perfect with the dli unplugged whats the issue?
black_widow87
Getting the DLI working again so that i can get something back for it. I havn't got the heart to just throw things away that dont work, especially things that are normally worth a fair bit.
black_widow87
Right i had the DLI apart yesterday but noticed that the inside of the casing is full with some kind of gel moulding which is sealed to the inside of the unit, my guess is that its some kind of insulation to whatever is underneath it. It definately seems like it been been made not to be taken apart! My thoughts are that maybe a resistor has blow or something but abit frightened to dig deep enough to find it what do you guys reckon?
