hodge
Hi guys. Just a quick question. The stock alarms that are fitted to the Uk spec supras, are they connected to the MIL light. So if the bonnet is open it will keep the warning light on. Cheers John
hodge
Anyone?? Or if any of the Uk owners wouldnt mind unplugging the alarm box and bonnet plunger for me to see if the MIL light comes on that would be a great help. Thanks John
Stephen G
I had most of the alarm in mine disconnected and had no warning lights. IICRC only the small red security light is the only one that alarm controls
Branners
Just for info, the UK spec alarm is not a factory fit option. It was hacked in to the loom when the cars arrived in the UK, hence why it is mostly not Toyota branded on the plipper. Not quite sure what question you are asking, do you mean if the bonnet is open will the alarm have a problem with that? I believe the answer is yes in most cases as it had a sensor under the bonnet and so you go to set the alarm and if the bonnet is open it might go off. I locked my car with the bonnet not closed properly before and the alarm went off. It has a Getronic alarm, so not sure if that makes a difference. Kevin wasn't bothered about having the siren refitted again to his car when I did the wire tuck. I'm just wondering if there would be an MIL light thrown up due to this. jon5698
If the siren isn't fitted mate you would probably get some sort of open circuit fault on the alarm.
SteveC
The alarm fitted to UK spec cars when arriving here is actually made by Scorpion. I think the remotes did have a Toyota logo, but I'm not certain about that - I got rid of my UK alarm a few years ago. The bonnet sensor does trigger the alarm, but it will NOT affect the MIL light on the dash. If the alarm was installed correctly, then no aspect of the alarm will affect the MIL light. Kev.O
If I remember correctly the siren under the bonnet has an over ride key built into it. I can't see why this would bring the MIL light on but thought this might be handy to know.
hodge
I've removed the siren and the bonnet switch and fired the car up with no lights and issues, so all is good guys. Thanks for the help John
