JohnA
Less and less people believe them now, especially since they've failed to send a manned craft anywhere outside the earth's orbit for 35 years. (1.2Mb video)

(1.2Mb video) Anyone who has half a clue about astronomy/space knows that the landings were true. Most people denying it are just trying to be 'cool' And the moon is indeed made out of cheese! far
It is made out of that stuff! I knew it:D I had a play with that early but never noticed that. John - I have read about conspiracy theories surrounding the lunar landing and it seems odd they never had further visits
Matt T
John - I have read about conspiracy theories surrounding the lunar landing and it seems odd they never had further visits Not really, it cost a crazy amount to do, and back then it was a 'race' to prove world supremacy over the russians. We now know almost all there is about the moon and its history now, so there is no need to send manned missions there again. When you think about the long list of 'important' missions to be comissioned, the Moon is always last on the list.
Class One
You should have a look at a book called Full Moon (how original!) by Micheal Light. If you were ever sceptical about the lunar landings, this book will change your mind. Its a photographic book taken from the NASA archives of 32000 photographs using 900 of the orginal negatives. It goes on to explain about light in a vacuum and about the use of the Hasselblad 70mm cameras that they used and the reseauline lens grid that has often been pointed out by Moon conspiracy theorists. I would like to believe that man went to the Moon. Some people will not believe it. But the book is worth a look at least.
Matt T
I would like to believe that man went to the Moon. Some people will not believe it. But the book is work a look at least. I find it hard to believe people say its not possilbe, when we have hundreds of satellites orbiting the Earth, have send space craft to all the terrestrial planets bar Pluto, and have had numerous manned missions, including shuttle, Hubble etc... Why is it so hard to believe a vessel could land on the Moon?
Tannhauser
I remember seeing one of the 'moon hoax' TV programmes a long time back and thinking that there was some dodgy science and reasoning going on in the hoax claims. I haven't come across the book mentioned, but there are a number of websites, such as this one, which address the claims one by one: http://www.braeunig.us/space/hoax.htm Cliff Edited to link to the site I intended to! dane_stone
Of course man has been to the moon, where do you think we get cheese from? cows
JohnA
I've been looking into this closely, well before it became a fashionable subject. I also remember when the world stood still watching the landings on the TV, I was a kid and hyped as much as everyone else. I have found no convincing proof either way. There are indications both ways, but nothing enough to swing it. Maybe they did land on the moon in 1969. Maybe they landed afterwards. Maybe they intended to land (eventually) but found out that it's impossible (killer radiation, who knows...) Maybe they only landed-eventually- unmanned craft, hence the excellent closeup photos (there are loads of them on the NASA website, hi-res too). Maybe they used this 'space race' to milk their taxpayers of billions of dollars, just as the Russians did. (common interests?) Maybe the 'arms race' was a similar con, to create huge black funding holes that parliaments could not question. Maybe not. This could be a game worth trillions, can you imagine what would happen to the world's confidence in the US dollar if it comes out that they faked their biggest achievements? Would *anyone* of the big players want the USD to flunk suddenly? We're all in the same boat... 35 years later, they still have trouble sending manned craft a couple of hundred miles high. Bits keep falling off the space shuttles FFS, if they can't get this right three and a half decades later, it does raise questions about their general competence, doesn't it? Until somebody else sends a craft to circle the moon and take pictures of the Apollo mission leftovers, I don't see how we can tell either way.
