mplavery
Hey people Thought i would share the news that i passed my motorbike test with NO MINORS on both parts which im over the moon I have always liked bikes but only had a small 125 in my teens, as soon as i got a car i just never got round to doing my full test. Apart from not having to sit in traffic anymore, another reason for doing the test is that we cant park our cars on site at work and now i cant even park my car at my girlfriend so i thought enough enough..im getting a Bike ! Done my test last week with Key Rider in Farnborough (http://www.keyrider.co.uk) There were closer test centre's round me but these guys were recommended to me plus they were the cheapest by £200 so well worth the 40 min drive !. These guys were brilliant, there seems to be allot of mickey mouse instructors out there but these guys really know what there talking about.. Before i booked my test i heard a few rumours that Part 1 was really hard and the Swerve test was really tricky to do which when people described what i had to do, really did worried me.. Well for those of you thinking of doing your test i thought i would tell you the truth...Part one is EASY ! The swerve test in fact is the best bit so dont worry about it Anyway the bike im getting is a Suzuki GSXR 750 K4....I love this bike and i cant wait to have one, going for the common Blue/white like this one I have also bought my leathers and safety helmet ..again something i have always wanted to wear on a bike but i would of look really stupid on a 125 lol Here i am looking like the Stig !!! lol Im trying to hold out till about March for the bike but im finding my self every day on bloody Autotrader so who knows lol As soon as i get it i will post some pics up Only downer is i might take my Supra of the road next year but we will see

You see now im looking back on Autotrader again lol It was the 750 bud just try get one with fairly low mileage, dry miles preferable but do remember that these bikes are animals and theres a lot out there that have been thrashed and tracked. Usual stuff bud service history and garaged you cant really go wrong check the fairings for signs that it could have been dropped, shocks are not leaking etc Is this your first big bike?? This is my k4 i had before trading it in for a k9

ozz
Awesome! I've recently passed my CBT and have my theory tomorrow. Got a CBF125 for now but its too light and slow for me so itching to do my DAS. Did you just do the tests or training as well? I'll prob wait til the spring to do it if I can. My wife is a biker, and from her and my research it seems the Suzuki SV-650 is one of the best 'begineer' choices.
SUPRALOOPY
Just passed my DAS too.. It's great fun but a bit scary ;0)

I bet there animals !... Yep its my first big bike so i will be very very sensible for a while.. I will be taken a friend who knows his way round a bike very well but the more info i can get for my self the better I was going to go for a 600 but it seems the 750 are almost the same price..Only major difference is the insurance.. been quoted £300 for the 600 and $500 for the
Kilps
Well done mate! I've been meaning to do mine too... my theory test expires in February so I really need to get it done before winter sets in properly! A mate of mine did his at Dunsfold (can't remember the company name - same place TopGear use) so I think I'll go there.

Just go out yourself at first mate till your use to it my K4 landed in a field when i went out with more experienced guys found myself way out my comfort zone and binned it. Engage the brain when your out and you will be fine throttle goes both ways remember lol

I done a 5 day course spread over two weeks.. one day doing CBT, Then one day training for part 1, then test...Training for part two then test..They do it like that so if you fail part 1 you have time to cancel your part2 so you dont lose your money as you have to give them 5 working days to cancel....Good thing about Keydrive, they train you on the test centre for part 1 which was really handy Just passed my DAS too.. It's great fun but a bit scary ;0) It was GREAT fun mate..loved it.. was a bit scary doing 70 lol

SupraAyf
Hey people Thought i would share the news that i passed my motorbike test with NO MINORS Well done indeed but the thing to remember is the bike test is designed to get you on to the bike and that's when the real learning starts. The bike you've chosen is a right smasher but go careful as you will get addicted to the power without having the experience and that's when the real bike test comes in. You don't want to fail that one! Not to sour the moment but one of our guys bought a very similar bike to this after passing his test and only lasted 500-miles before coming unstuck. He was thrashing it in a 40-zone 'country lane' when he lost control and slid under a flat-fronted truck. His legs and pelvis stayed with the bike and the rest of him stayed with the truck; it halved him like an egg with 28-feet on entrails all over the place. I have a Busa K9, ZX12R A1, Busa RX and an RSV1000 and I still get slightly apprehensive when I get on them because I know just what can happen if I were to have a foolish moment; hence the reason why I am more careful than ever. I'm a cheery chap eh!
mwilkinson
Congrats mate. I could never ride a motorbike I would kill myself in the first few minutes I did my CBT at Dunsfold a few years back and the test ride, whilst fun and liberating, confirmed for me I am a menace and danger to other road users. Especially the steep hill starts in Guildford!! I have to get the comment in about Power Ranger outfits etc.. But at least your in black and not some bright neon green. I do parties too!!
