The Raven
As some of you know my little son is showing signs of autism. He has been seen by his play group, health vistor and GP. Each one of them has refered him to something called early support, which is where they can see him each week work with him and help him. Now during this time he was also seen by speech therapist Seems these a$$holes are taking the dam speech numpty who saw my son for half an hours report over the other 3s! They have now refused to treat him or even see him twice! He cant talk for god sake! As much as it hurts i can see something isnt right with him, He a happy little child but he needs help and these people dont want to help him. I feel like im butting my head against a wall, if they dont help him now its only going to be worse when they decide to act. So now hes been to see a pediatrician who has guess what...............SENT A REQUEST TO..........Early support! Good news right? Nope they even have the right to refuse a *ucking pediatrician! how is that right! I swear im going to lose it if they dont see him, I am going to the office where these people are and im refusing to leave until i see the offending doctor and he can explain why they wont help me. I figure the worst they can do is call the police if i wont leave, weighed against my sons well being i couldnt give a toss.
neilp9876
My son does speech therapy, he has been tested several times and then referred to different specialists based on that test. How old is your son and what did the therapist say was wrong with him? If anything. I would phone the specialists and ask for him to be tested again or get your gp to refer you to an independent therapist. I know we had to fight a couple of times but once in the system the help has been very good.
The Raven
Nath is 2 1/2. We have been told hes functioning on a 18-24 month old level. He has rounded delay in everything he does, speech, intereaction, movement ect. Speech didnt say anything, they just made notes, Early support are using these notes to go against My GPs, Play groups, and Health vistors concerns and reports about him. He went to the hospital to see a pediatrician who is concerned by autism hence the 3rd referral to early support, and loads of tests, bloods ect. I fail to see how these people have come to the fact that he does not need help?
hogmaw
Sorry to hear of your problems. My 12 year old nephew has severe autism and needs permanent 24/7 care, probably for the rest of his life. My sister has had to fight tooth and nail to get this care which to any normal person would seem an open & shut case; but to council/healthcare workers oh dear it's not as simple as that is it! It's taken literally years to get the assessment and help he needs. So my advice to you is to stick with it, and your perseverence will reap rewards. It's a bastad, but don't give up, you will get the support you need, but i am sorry to say nothing is given out on a plate and it will stretch your patience and take up a lot of your time. Best of luck with everything and do not give up, do the sit-in and do anything else - whatever it takes.
