If you maxed out the trailer weight and had 780 kg worth of fuel, passengers and luggage you would need an LGV license !!

So if I bought a Land Rover Discovery and had myself and another passenger in the car, maybe an extra 60 litres of fuel (for the Supra) towing a twin axle braked trailer (around 600-800kg) and had the Supra on the trailer which is around 1,280kg would I still be ok on a B licence? heckler
and.. As category B but with a trailer weighing more than 750 kg. The total weight of the vehicle and the trailer together can’t weigh more than 3,500 kg. The weight of the trailer, when fully loaded, can’t weigh more than the unladen weight of the vehicle If the trailer exceeds 750kg, you need B+E on your licence
ManwithSupra
The Unladen weight of the Disco is 2055kg, which means I have only 1445kg to play with from my 3500kg limit. Taking away the weight of the Supra leaves me only 165kg and a trailer is a lot more than that! Looks like I am going to have to take my E course Either that or drive the Supra to the track (as its road legal) which whilst I can do that, its not really what I want to do. Chris Wilson
What's an E course, is that the new fangled thing before you can tow a trailer bigger than a wheelbarrow? We old `uns got that automatically with our normal driving test, plus driving a vehicle anything up to 7.5 tonnes
Konrad
80 series Landcruiser is great choice for towing, 3500kg towing capacity for braked trailer. Not sure you will get decent one for 3k tho, they tend to keep price very well 4.2 TD might be large engine, but if you driving with sensible speed they give reasonable mpg + fact that those run on used veg oil makes them proper winner
