IDO
first of all... hi all! haven't been on here for a bit! Thought I would use your wealth of info for any recommendations of good places to visit in New York.. I know the usual touristy stuff (which will probably get a visit) but if any one has been there and found places worth a visit that may get overlookedin the usual "things you must see", let me know? Ta.

j_jza80
I'm going on the 26th of November until the 1st December, so I'll be keeping an eye on this thread
j_jza80
If you like this kind of thing, apparently the USS Intrepid is a fantastic few hours of looking around. Iirc it's a Korean war era aircraft carrier, with loads of vehichles, planes etc including Concorde, a Blackbird and a Nuclear Sub!
Brazil
I would love to to visit some of the properties that they used to film the 'Suprano' series..! It would make some fun facebook photos too..!

Central Park Zoo wasn't really worth it. Liberty etc all worth doing and if you are feeling flush pay for express access to the Empire state and walk past all the queues! Don't forget all the other bits like Hells Kitchen and China Town too.
stevie_b
I found Times Square disappointing as a tourist attraction. I've only been to NY on business so I suppose that changed the mood of the visit. Imagine Picadilly Circus with lots more neon advertising, much taller buildings and many more fast food outlets and bargain-basement "Any 4 T shirts for $4" shops. clapyohandz
Pier #23 if you are into basket ball. Pick up games daily. Most of the shopping could be done in BK, prices are usually 20% down from the ones in Manhattan. I don't know if the Coyote Ugly still exist, you know, gals dancing on the bar while serving drinks. SUPRALAND
New York is truly the most beautiful city that I have visited. I stayed one week and I have not had time to do everything. Do not forget Spanish Harlem, the people are lovely here. Brooklyn to see the tags of Five point, but do not go to jamaica, its a dangerous place after 5pm. Where are so much things to do and to eat( dont forget to go to shake shake and wendys, best burger available in Nyc ;-) heres a little video of my travel in Nyc ( a little bit cliché with the music:D) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XsuOuYoZxUM

IDO
thanks for the pointers. Most I have on the "to do" list.. think the hotel is not far from times square and only a few blocks from C.Park, really looking forward to it.. May miss the Intrepid though, It would be something i wouldn't mind seeing but with all the other options and the time scale I don't think the missus' would put it high on the list (or Coyote Ugly)! Was also thinking of Conney Island, maybe just because i loved the film "The warriors" when i was younger! Was also looking at Man vrs food and looking at where he went for some stupid huge deli sandwiches!!! just for the experience.. Keron: thanks for the bus pointer, will keep eyes out for those. clapyohands: BK? you mean Brooklyn? Mooret: yeah, sort of looking forward to seeing the areas as much as the normal sights. will have to see how much the express passes are!! Supraland: ta, will look out for shake shake.
