Scott
Very easy to do. In the faq section there is a guide to changing the valve stem seals. That covers everything you need

Scott
thanks scott No worries, just don't follow the entire guide or you'll be wondering why you can see the bottom of the valves You're just after the first few steps.... I'm sure you know that though (I just don't want blamed )
mrmyagiii
I recently took them out, very easy. Remove Upper plastic cam cover part thingy. You can clearly see those bolts. Then you can already see the coilpacks. They are held down by 2 screws each wich go through the plastic casing of the coil pack itself. Unclip the connector and out it goes .Only hard thing i came upon was those screws trough coilpack casing are very soft and easy to wreck when u use a wrong screwdriver. Scott
Fooked coil pack clips by the sounds of it. What is your reason for changing the coilpack?
peter richards
well the car had a slight miss on idle scott , been off the road for 18 months so i knew something was up . then day before yesterday went for a run everything ok stopped for an hour but when started really rough barely got home and its been like it ever sinse . i have a coil pack on the way and plugs , so hopefully that will sort it
Scott
It most likely won't be the coil pack. It could be down to the spark plugs but the most likely cause would be the coil pack clips. Very common fault, happens to most of us at one time or another
peter richards
ok appreciate the advice scott, i think its the whole thing coming , may as well put them in . done my lights today so getting somewhere although that wasnt straight forward lol
Scott
ok appreciate the advice scott, i think its the whole thing coming , may as well put them in . done my lights today so getting somewhere although that wasnt straight forward lol The coil pack clip is on the harness bud. It's what connects the loom to the coilpack (it's a plug). They won't be supplied with the coilpacks. You need to get them seperately, pretty sure Paul does them for about £6 each. If doing it, do all 6. Make sure you get the rubber breather pipes for betwen the cam covers if you don't already have them, or if you haven't done them recently. They will be very brittle if old, and will split when taken off.

peter richards
as its not raining lol , thought id go and see whats involved , and as scott said the clips disintergrated , so ive taken them all off 5 and 6 were hard as ive a bad back struggled to reach them , but just cracked them off with pliers ,replacing them is going to be fun (dave), cut off the two breather pipes so ill order whats needed , do i need the coil pack ???? maybe not but ive got plugs to change so may as well

Ian C
You can unplug them all and pull the loom all the way to the front of the engine bay to work on it, that should help the bad back

Ian C
I replied to your PM, sorry I missed the earlier one. I dunno if you've seen this article: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?61141-How-To-Refurbish-coil-pack-connectors It's got pics and a description of how I took mine apart and put them back together again. The white insert should just slide into place and click with little effort. If it doesn't easily go in, the pins probably aren't in properly square. If they are rotated round a bit, the white insert won't fit.
peter richards
thanks ian , yes i read the thread quite a few times so thought it would be easy , i phoned paul just after i started because the white centre bits just wouldnt go in , kept on trying and got some results on 5 but broke the last one , i got the wires the wrong way round and couldnt get them back out , so ill order another and try again . appreciate your help
