Geo
Only gone and torn my Lateral epicondylitis(Tennis Elbow) tendon. I've had this Injury since April this year, went to see Doc and got a shot of Cortisone, this worked a treat and it cleared up. 1 Week before my Holiday this year the pain started to come back. I've got private medical through work, so i invoked it. Spoke to the Consultant and went through tests, and it looks like a tear in the Lateral epicondylitis. Confirmed today when they Operated. So now i can't train upper body for 8 wks, then it will be light work coupled with Physio for a full recovery. Being hardcore i'll be back in the gym training legs and abs this Monday. Until then its painkillers and loads of food. Oh and Xbox.

sdistc
You probable meant "common extensor origin at the lateral epicondyle" No such thing as "lateral epicondylitis" - no evidence exists to demonstrate inflammatory response in the tendon during so-called Tennis Elbow. We call it "lateral epicondylALGIA" (to reflect a pain syndrome originating from the common extensor origin) or "common extensor tendinosis/tendinopathy" (to reflect a breakdown in the tendon structure, similar to Achilles tendinopathy). Long story short, overuse of the extensor muscles causes the tendon joining them to the bone (i.e. their origin) to break down and cause pain. Solution, long term, being improved eccentric strength of the muscles to withstand repetitive lengthening loads. THE END

sdistc
Yeah, I feel your pain - sometimes, unfortunately, there's no other option besides surgery. And, to make you feel even worse, usually it's due to factors totally out of your control (genetics, luck etc.). But "what does not kill us makes us stronger"... or as my friend Arnold likes to say "PAYN IZ WEEKNUHS LEEVEN DA BAHDEE". And I think there's something in that for all of us. pedrosixfour
Get well soon G. I'd starve if I only had my left hand to feed me, sometimes I don't think I'm even the one controlling it! So I'd probably suffer a fork in eyeball type of injury also, just for good measure.
