FOSTA
hey could anybody help me out im getting the timing belt changed and i need to know what to buy lol obviously i need a timming belt - from toyota £29.00 but do i need any pullys or anything? and has anbody got any part numbers for them etc also i might sound dumb here but is the supra a NON-INTERFERENCE engine? meaning if the timing belt snaps the valves wont hit the pistons that would normally cause them to bend? so if the belt snaps you just fit a new belt and on your way you go? thanks in advance ;-)
Swampy442
You might want to change the tensioner and pulley while youre at it, and maybe the waterpump while the belts off. But depends on on condition. As for non interference I know for a fact the 2JZ GTE is, not sure about the GE
dr_jekyll
ge is also non interference
hodge
Jamie you need a timing belt tensioner and tensioner pulley. A water pump would also be a good idea while I've got it stripped. Get the whole unit including waterpump housing and not just the pump. I've just replaced Stevos pump and housing cos his core plug poped on the rear of the housing. Be a shame to get it all done and then have to strip it all again mate.

Scott
I've got an aux belt you can have for a good price. Genuine Toyota, no use to me as I have an ATI pulley. I bought it not knowing I needed a different size.

Scott
It's best not to ask Toyota what you need, no idea what you would end up with. You want a timing belt tensioner, timing belt, aux belt and if it hasn't been done a water pump, thermostat and 10l of pre-mixed coolant. Timing belt - Toyota Tensioner - Ebay Bin the belt though Aux Belt - Toyota or me Water Pump - Toyota Thermostat - Toyota Coolant - Toyota or Halfords or any other motor factors. pedrosixfour
I have a genuine Toyota timing belt here for the GE. It did 4 trackdays on the engine so it's good for another 59,000 miles. I know buying a used timing belt is usually about as bad an idea as you can get but due to the fact the engine is non interference, I fitted and lately removed the belt myself and the car is genuinely only used a couple of times a year I'm happy to offer this part as a re-useable item. I also have genuine cam cover gaskets that were never fitted. Edited October 27, 2011 by pedrosixfour (see edit history)
