Swampy442
Just saw the news he'd passed away, was terrible, Ive never seen a helmet come off in a crash before. Feel really sorry for Colin Edwards as well. RIP Marco, a potentially huge talent that wont be realised
merckx
Very sad indeed, just one week after the Indy Car death.

Already there are experts commenting on how Edwards could have avoided him !!! Ridiculous..!! I have watched it a couple of times now and how the hell is he supposed to significantly change direction at that speed? You can see him tense up and try to move but Marco is coming straight across him. I imagine he was looking in his right mirror as he came off the bend anyway as he had another rider on his inside. H. No mirrors on a GP bike dude, if you cant see another bike in a bend its your line, virtually impossible to significantly change direction when your as commited as that in a corner, its a split second decision, imo had Edwards gone behind he would have missed but thats in hindsight which is a wonderful thing. imi
RIP as said, split sec decisions and not as if there was plenty of free space on either side. only if he could have vanished.

Dnk
Edwards was sliding the back end as he exited the corner so theres no way he could of done much other than try to pick the bike up, not easy to do at real speed and the slo motion video makes it look like theres time to do something which there wasn't
tony tt
Simoncello had a senna approach to racing he just went for it. Pushed his bike all the time and if there was a gap he tried for it he was a true racer. A lot of people critisised his riding and said he was a hazard on track. There was times i called him an idiot for going so hard even when he was away out in front then low sided it when he could have relaxed a bit and brought it in for the win. He was a battler and a loss to the motogp. I feel for Rossi and Edwards they now need to live with that going over in their mind what if i did this or that to avoid him. It's a sad day for the sport. Cheers John. I am not really into Moto gp (as you can tell), I just find any suggestion that a rider would deliberately not get out of the way of a guy on the deck is not even up for consideration. Edwards just looked to be leaning heavily to his right with his head looking that way. When Simoncelli came from his left he would have had no chance. Trying to predict where a sliding/out of control bike is going is a lottery, I came off at Snetterton at around 130 mph and was in the middle of a group of bikes, everything for me went into slow motion, first thought was 'F88k Im not actually on that bike!!!!' then seeing the other bikes trying to not run me over and going all over the place was pretty sureal, fortunatly they were all proddy racers and did not panic, i remember my arse and hands getting very hot !!!! Just gotta love a fractured fuel ine on a new bike !!!!
