Just get a stroker and your car would drive the same as a 3.0 with 6766, on your current turbo!!

That HKS kit is a bargain, even with new rings needed its still very cheap

I dont want to spend anymore money on it, saving hard for a new house and putting all my effort into to building my company now.

Not planning on ever selling the Supra but i am bored of the drag stuff, i had more fun in the car when it was 700's

fman SVM GTR 850 did 9.6 , yours did 10.1 with over 1100bhp..

Thats just down to my poor drag setup.

so in drag set up, not in street set up is the only chance they will have at big power,.

on the street the GTR will win.

you can argue and say yes this is due to RWD vs 4wd and technology..

they shift well for a big tank..

jessica barton is set up for the drag..

on the street it would have no chance vs a GTR with same power.

am not going to sit here all day and give stats out vs stats.

end of the day the supra is a car i love and well enginereed and can hold its own..

but now the GTR is here it has numerous advantages...

you can drive it like a normal civil car and go town cruising with ease as opposed to big bhp supras with big cluthes etc..

nothing wrong with that..

but for me thats why i prefer the GTR and to get the best out if it, we dont have to change to small brakes huge radials etc..

in street trim (its the king of the road power to same power)..

it does not mean the supra is slow or a bad car, times have moved on thats all.

Im bored of this, i wish you luck with the car, Lets hope it holds together this time, id be craping myself its going to let go every time i drove it if it was mine.

the fear is there mate, but i have to believe the guys who build the engine..

they said the have fixed the issues of all the failures so am hoping thats the case..

no hard feelings ;-)

With all the technolgy the GTR has and 4wd its has the advantage on the road for sure. As yours shows Jurgen they arent reliable when they reach some high hp also there have been a few engine failures in the US on the dyno's.

I know which I prefer even if I had the spare cash for a GTR, but you cant take away that is a serious bit of kit.

Having owned both with the same power level the GTR is quicker on the street for sure, however since when was it about that? surely its about the excitement of driving and some folk like high tech, some 4wd, some RWD. As far as reliability is concerned my old one was a nightmare just to get it to the same power level's that my current GTR is running and I've currently spent the same! But maintenance on the GTR's is way way more!!!!

Having read the last 5 pages it always amazes me that we can't ever seem to put together a winning team at TOTB team! Despite owning a GTR I would love and I mean love to see a winning Supra TOTB team! However the Supra IIRC from many times I've been never get anyway near :(

I'm also more than happy to contact the Mod's over a GTR.co.uk or MLR etc etc and do a 'head to head' event?

I would also love to my GTR up against a 550hp Supra at pod this year, no cheating, no drag tyres etc. And I honestly wouldn't care if I lost :D I will also be interesting to how my car does against Mike Wards Supra later in the year, although he will be running more power, its striped and tracked focused, and he's a better driver :D

On the Street like for like a Supra will beat a GTR. The GTR weighs a good 200kgs more!!

I get what you mean Jurgen about the refinement and it's great like that. But that's why it costs so much more I guess to get to the similar levels.

But on the street the Supra is kind of untouchable like for like...

Tx just showed that even the TTG's struggle against the same power Supra's...

Also Jessica street raced her car alot, not many people kept up with her either!! Lol

That sort of event would be pretty cool if only TOTB was closer though...

I drove to York a few years ago for SSO and it's sooooo far, I didn't think the organisation was great either. But if we could get an event like Marham over a standing mile, we could sort the men from the boys ;) lol

TOTB is finished IMO its not what it was, I may go this year in the black car but at least when I won the RWD shootout all the top cars were there and the RK tuning only beat me by 1 car length in the final, not bad for a car with a towbar driven to the event and trailered a trailer home from Amersham to brighton afterwards.

who said that? (I was posted at marham for 18 months, and used to help organise these events...)

The Sarge who organises it, all pics and footage have to be approved for release by the MOD, we were specifically asked not to post on you tube, facebook or forums !!! Its a bit silly because all you see is the runway and floor of the car and im pretty sure any insurgents will know marham has a runway (you can see loads on google earth !!!!)

Looks like it was an interesting day in the wet for a lot of people! But the GTR that ran 214mph in the wet! Christ!

Sounds like a nice street setup! Is it a stock auto? As I'm quite curious about your car with the GT35 on it as I see the odd mention of it in threads, what is it's full spec?

(sorry for a bit of a thread hi-jack :) )

GT 35 BB Turbo

Arnout cast manifold

Plumbed in WG

Tanabe Medallion exhaust

Bosch 044

650 top feeds

FMIC

HKS F-Con pro

Apexi AVCR

RLTC

Rebuilt motor with wiseco pistons

Rebuilt transmission

603 hp @ 1.6 bar

570 @ 1.5

460 @ 1 bar

370 ft lbs @ 2500 rpm

Peak Torque 570 @ 4200

making a bar of boost by 3000rpm

makes 0.8 bar revving it in neutral !!!!

Prob all coming out (turbo kit, injectors, fuel pump and electronics) to be sold complete as a package as I need far more power !!!!

Great thread. Nice to see the Supra v GT-R debate is just as fierce on here as it is on other forums. Shame about the weather really, it would have been nice to see Darett let rip.

FWIW Jurgen, you're on glue if you think the Supra is similar in costs to run in stock form, let alone 1000HP. The GTR is very much still in its honeymoon period with limited specialists and high prices (even on aftermarket parts). The Supra has the benefit of time behind it now with parts prices not being anywhere near what they were when the Supra was 4 years old. Same applies to maintenance, a Supra is pretty simple to maintain meaning its not necessary to bring it to a specialist, unlike a GT-R (for now).

Ultimately they are both fantastic cars which I have been lucky enough to own.

.

i cant see why you have to got to a specialist..(nissan dont even know what they are doing with it lol - they are working on micras all day probably)

a normal performance garage should be able to maintain and look after the car at reasonable costs.

if your a joe blogs then you will pay a higher costs as you will feel it must be dealer/specialists only that can work on them..

same applies to parts (shop around and some prices will be within budget of another JDM car).

i serviced my car since 2008 with no dealer or special equipment (for amlost 2 years) before any dealers were about in UK.

once you have both cars set up and running properly IMO your talking fluids only and fuel to run and other servicable items..(they are going to be similar in costs)..

yes if they break it will cost more to replace, but how many people budget breakages in the prices of running a car.

anyway i have had experience with both sets of cars..

if you want to go to NISSAN HPC and pay £200 for an oil change then the R35 will cost vastly more to maintain..

As have I ;)

Jurgen, I'm not out to pi$$ on your chips, but it's all too easy to blur the lines between trade and public. For a normal Joe blogs consumer the GT-R will cost more to maintain and run than a Supra, no matter what way you want to butter the bread. Comparable parts, be it OEM or aftermarket, are pricier than a Supra's - this will of course come down with time. Now yes, an owner can self maintain, or take it to any number of generic performance shops for basic fluids etc (which they use more of, and I'm not talking about Fuel) but how many garages have invested in a ConsultIII so they can update firmware or clutch relearn, not to mention warranty work (which many owners want to keep)? Sorry Jurgen, I love both cars but the GT-R makes a 997 Turbo cheap to run, never mind a Supra. But like I say, time will bring more vendors and garages to the party which will drive prices down.:)
