T2 MSW
Is the easiest way to get the rack off by simply unbolting the arms at the hubs. the 3 x bolts holding the rack in place and the connection to the steering wheel at the top? The rackdumps all its fluid in the sapce of a few weeks. ive taken all the lins off today and all are in ok condition no splits. Only place I can see where fluid is coming from is the seal where the rack splits in two. Im assuming I can get the rack off, strip it down, clean it up and reseal it? T2 MSW
Right ok, got the rack off today - what a pain in the arse job that is. Ive split the rack and cleaned it all up. No leaks on the rack itself. However when putting fluid in to test for leaks I noticed a couple of drops from the boot. Loosened the boot off and took it off and all the fluid poured out. So it looks like the seals have gone completly. So my next question is how do you get the seals out and are they a replacement part from Toyota? Or is this new rack time? fastcar
You can get a kit from Toyota to replace the seals but have been told they are a pain in the ass to replace. You can get them recond for about 300 I think. If you buy a new rack it's over a grand
