Batman - Arkham City (The game)

Just finished this today after not very much time playing. I still have all the sidegames to play etc but I was very disappointed by the length of the actual single player of the game. I thought I had miles left to go when it suddenly finished. I had the game on "normal" mode so it's far too easy IMO.

I've enjoyed what I have played though and look forward to the rest of the side-stories.

Anyone else playing it?

Picking it up for my son tomorrow, all i've heard out of him for the past three weeks is arkham city lol, he won't sleep tonight :D

How was it for violence/bad language bud?

The violence is as you would expect, lots of stabbing, slashing and shooting. The language is fairly bad too, lots of swearing throughout, no fbombs or anything that I noticed but plenty of moderate level swears.

im still stuck on it :(

What part are you stuck at?

Considering it's only been released in the UK today, were you playing an import version or a dodgy one?

I know of 2 local shops that were selling this early, Not import or dodgy ones, They always sell the big games early because they know it will be bought at supermarkets or bigger game shops, Wrong i know but they still do it.

That's interesting. I've never seen that myself, but I do remember being told by an employee of Beatties (a long time ago) that they had copies of a particular game I wanted (for the N64!) sitting in the back, waiting for release day. I begged him to let me get hold of a copy early, but he said that he couldn't, because if the supplier / Nintendo found out they wouldn't provide to them anymore.

I'd love to find a shop like that in Manc. I've been looking forward to Arkham City for ages.

Loved the first one of these, been waiting for ages for this one. What side games does this one have? More riddles? Something to replace the Arkham stones?

To be fair there are loads of side games.

The Riddler

Catwoman (Missions playing as her)

Titan Containers (Destroy them throughout the city)

The Hatter

Identity Theft

Some Watcher guy thing

Assasinations (Theres an assassin to investigate)

Cold Call Killer (Need to trace his calls and save the would be victims)

There's probably more, these are the ones I can remember lol.

Sounds good. The first one was a pretty slim story when you got down to it - only took a few hours to replay if you focused and didn't get sidetracked with the bonus missions.

This one is very similar although due to the size of the game area it's on a far larger scale.

Im on the hunt for Mr freeze.

Im glad i played the first one as i wouldnt know where to start on this without it.

I still got lost with the storyline, a lot of references that didn't make much sense to me lol. I felt as if I had missed a middle game somewhere.

This game is the nuts!!!

The war between the mobs, the side misson greatness, I even heard killer crocs name mentioned before i belted the living poo out the goons. Then just when i was loving it......The chopper found me the little touch of them telling strange that im kicking ass while batman is bathed in a white light....Awesome

Very true. The game must appear alien to people who haven't played AA. I'm 5% in according to the tally and I felt exactly the same. The game throws the player in at the deep end. AA built batman up from basically a guy with a punch ability. With AC, you have loads of stuff from the go, with no story based tutorial. I'm still getting to grips with the controls again. From being able to do a combo in AA using all the bat gadgets and moves, I can now just about muster up a 6 variety combo!

It's not rocked my world yet. Catwomen side story is good though. Very interesting character to play with.

Yes it is.

Im a sucker for side storys, i see a flare i have to investigate! A phone rings i have to answer! A body is found im on my way.

The amount of time ive been half way to where i was going only to see something on the map and go all the way back across the map to see it is unreal. I played it last night, i was supposed to find freeze, i spent a good hour chasing side misson quests, beating random goons and trying to find where killer croc is hiding.

O and i got hold of the chopper and hung around on it for a bit trying to do an epic dive onto a goon

Thats why i loved Fallout 3. I could go and do what ever i wanted.
