Chris Wilson
There was much back slapping and red necking when they hung President Saddam Hussein, and Iraq was allegedly on it's way to democracy and a brave new western inspired rebirth. Not sure I'd be banking on it as a good destination for next year's holiday. I am afraid a dead dictator is far from a sure and certain future for a lawless and tribal country. Sometimes it's just what they need. We may need one here before so very long

Very informative and surprising but why then do so many libyans flee this country, why is the majority of Libya celebrating his death? Its easy to give this much back to the people when your country is oil rich, this money is Libyas money......not Gaddafis bet not many citizens have a golden gun !!!! Ian C
I sense a rather high degree of "cherry picking" going on with that list of 'facts' I imagine you could provide 15 ace things Hitler* did in his time like that as well. Not that anyone here has a massive political agenda they constantly bang the eff on about or anything -Ian *Other dictators and mass murderers are available. Do not apply Godwin's law. Who would like to have a stab at that? Well that's kind of my point, you probably could, so what's the point I think the only dictator you couldn't list 15 good points about was Gordon Brown. Anyway, hurrah he's dead. Seems to be a lot of big changes in the world going on in the last couple of years

Lbm
Granted. Imi's Libya sounds idyllic. But just for balance, let's take a look at what that other nasty and dubious regime makes of the place.
