Slicknick
Hope this isn't a repost, but i thought this was quite an interesting read: http://www.thorneymotorsport.co.uk/tuning/Fuel_Test_Results_Update.shtml
imi
Amazing how different tests show different results using the same fuels. Sometimes Shell seems to be the best and other times not.
ripped_fear
thanks for that, rather interesting. All I can say is im glad I use tesco high octane fuel although I have no other choice on the island if I want to use a high octane variant of petrol
Slicknick
Yeah i thought that, but I found it useful to know the Tesco fuel is ok to use as i have been caught out trying to find a shell garage before.
Westy
It's the Tesco momentum I use in all my cars. Good read!
johnny g
I alternate between Tesco and Shell - depending on which way I drive back to my house. Never noticed a difference between the two. Looks like I'll be maintaining that routine
Martin J
Interesting. Didn't think there would be much between Tesco and Shell (with my initial thoughts being the Shell was probably a bit better!), but I mainly use the Tesco 99 as the garage is closer to me (and doesn't have a ridiculous speed bump). I guess I'll carry on using Tesco and topping up my ClubCard!
Slicknick
Has anyone used the BP 102 mentioned? £2.50 a ltr is just mad!
dan294
We did something similar with the standard and premium diesel at work a few years ago and found much the same things. I tend to stick with Tesco Momentum 99 as we shop at Tesco and you get the 5p off a litre offer if you spend over £50!
Guest Budz86
Interesting read - very surprised at the cost of BP 102 considering it's only marginally better!
Geo
Don't they add additives to the Tesco 99 stuff to get the octane higher??
Scott
I'll need to have a search around and see if any local tescos stock the stuff. I have a shell 2 mins from my house but they seem to be renovating or something as they haven't had vpower for months.
imi
I used to use Tesco99 exclusively however when Ryan fitted the Syvecs and mapped the car he suggested I use V-power instead.
Josh
I'm sure I've read about a couple of people's cars on here breaking down after filling up at Tesco due to water in the fuel. I'll stick to Shell V-Power just 'cause. Although, the Shell down the road from me has had no petrol for about 3 months, only diesel. Seems quite odd! Abz
Hold on, didn't Tesco have issues with their fuel a couple of years ago? Where does Tesco fuel come from? Are they buying it from a certain big company? I don't think they are in the drilling business.
Josh
Glad I'm not the only one. Although we have petrol, just no Vpower (petrol or diesel). They ran out of V-power for about a month, then ran out of all petrol and diesel, then they brought diesel back, then ran out of both again and now they've got just diesel. They've been messing about like that for about 6 months. Seems really weird. It's not like it's a small out of the way one either, it's right as you get off the motorway. It was BP but Shell took over.

Alot of engines were ruined before they managed to trace it back to Tesco. It was a good few years ago now, luckily i hadnt been filling up there...although i was driving a banged up clio that i bought for £400 at the time so it wouldnt have been the end of the world lol. I'm not sure where they get they're fuel from, they are 100% not in the drilling industry.

Yet when you check the shell website it's listed as having vpower.

The amount of cars I see pull in, realise there's no fuel then drive straight back out is ridiculous. Also another Shell down the road seems to have closed down. Wonder what's happening to them.. Thats interesting as my local Shell station closed for the weekend and then re-opened on Monday as a BP station. I didnt think too much about it until I have read this thread.
