dr_jekyll Posted October 18, 2011 Share Posted October 18, 2011 hi , the mrs little merc has a strange missfire on cylinder 1 . the car drives fine for 10 mins or so but then developes a miss on 1 . if you flick it off then straigfht back on the miss is gone, then comes back after another 10 mins. the obd2 is saying misfire detected on cylinder one (big help) so have tryed plugs and coils and its still the same . anyother ideas ? GINNO78 Posted October 18, 2011 Share Posted October 18, 2011 (edited) A friend of mine had this on her SLK changed plugs coils etc no fix.... turned out to be injector.......she also had the MAF changed and its now running like dream....Faulty MAF's also flag up as Misfires! absz Posted October 20, 2011 Share Posted October 20, 2011 You need a scope to test the coils correctly also the injectors this will show you when and how long the units are firing for. a air leak will also show up as mis-fire faults, IF you can get hold of a diagnostic machine go to live data and check fuel trim this will show up any vaccum leak or overfuelling issues.
