Chris Wilson
Looking for a cheap colour laser, is this worth a punt? There are some of this model with eitherno toner or possible "issues" cheaper, but would prefer plug and play. Thanks. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260870204115?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
Scott
Definitely, especially as the toner cartridges are about £20 each
Branners
ask them for a print out showing the status of the toner cartridges just in case they are selling you half empty toners. When the toner runs it it costs a packet to get new originals. If you do get it then post up what you think of the quality as I'm thinking about changing my laserjet 2550 to one of those. Chris Wilson
I bought it for £60, toners are all over 40%. He has excellent feedback, and I won't be giving it that much use, I'll let you know how it goes. My LaserJet 4000N black and white HP printer has been moaning about low cartridge for over a year, it still prints acceptably. Time will tell Thanks. Things to look out for with the colour printers, is they tend to get alot of earthing problems, then this relates to poor print quality. if its only going to be used very little then thats a good buy Chris
tDR
On the subject - i'm looking for a new all in one wireless printer / scanner / copier for my home office. Quite fancy the HP OfficeJet 6500A Plus. Looks nice enough, has the scanner sheet feeder and the duplex print module included for £79.99 from Currys. Also supports printing from iPhone and iPad directly as well as being 'e' enabled where your printer gets an email address and you can email stuff from anywhere to it for printing. Any real world comment on these or suggestion of an alternative? Couldn't really see the same thing including colour laser instead of inkjet print during my quick search around - that would make it perfect for me. Cheers, Brian. stevie_b
I agree, looks like a good buy. When it comes to buying a printer, there's only one name in town I'd consider and that's HP. That one looks a few steps up from a basic compact model, so you'd expect it to be more robust/long-lasting than those ones.
Branners
The newer HP colour lasers also have a great trick of getting low on toner and then stopping you printing until you replace the toners. You can usually force it to go past that message so expect it to be awkward when the toners do run out. I forced my colour laser to keep going about 5 months ago and its still running fine. Chris Wilson
Arrived this morning, works perfectly, plenty of toner left as he said. Condition is genuinely mint, and it's printed a total of 26174 pages in its life. Should do me for a while. I even mastered connecting it to my network, the software is a lot more user friendly than for my my old, but great, LaserJet 4000n black and white. Only thing it foes is moan about a none HP black toner fitted, you have to press OK on power up. Other colours are genuine. I spoke to the vendor by phone to see when it was being sent and he seemed a nice helpful guy. At £60 should it give even 12 months usage it will be better than the trouble I have had with Epson ink jets drying up or eating cartridges at a prodigious rate.
