Jake
My Lexus GS300 wheels have been refurbished and I'm looking at what tyres to use. The wheels are 18" x 8.5" front and 18" x 10" rear. I believe that the usual rear tyre size used on these wheels when fitted to a Supra is 275/35/18 but I'm considering going up a size or two on the profile. Does anyone know if 275/40/18 or even 275/45/18 would work OK or would I have trouble with the tyres fouling the body work? The car ('93 RZ auto) is on standard springs and yellow bilstein shocks. I'm OK about the gearing being raised and I think I'd quite like the not-so-harsh ride compared to the 35series tyres I'm using currently. Any thoughts? tbourner
I've got 285/35 which should have a similar effect to 275/40 (haven't checked the maths!). They rubbed the arches when the car was really low, I've had them rolled at the rear and raised it about an inch - it's still lower than when I had the standard yellows and springs though and is now fine. tbourner
Just checked here and the 40 would be 20mm bigger than mine, the 45 would be 48mm bigger!!! I think mine are 21mm bigger already!! Might not be a good idea unless you plan to get the arches rolled.

When I put 19's on mine I kept the same profile as when I had my 18's haven't noticed any problems since. I didn't want to drop to a mega harsh profile either......
