Kopite
it's not due to crap drivin, it's not due to people tail gating, not indicating or using wrong lanes or generally not knowin the highway code, it's due to the music you listen to..... how_supra
I heard this on the news this morning. Why did they need to conduct a study on the topic? Of course music affects your driving. I could have told them that But then most people who listen to frank sinatra for example are probably not going to be young chav type individuals, who are more "likely" to have accidents, regardless. Or is that just me?
tbourner
Agreed it's flawed logic, they could claim that Jags are less likely to crash than Fiestas because they are more comfortable - obviously nothing to do with the fact that new drivers get Fiestas and experienced drivers get Jags (for example). Digsy
Singing along to Frank Sinatra or Joss Stone on the car stereo can help motorists drive more safely, according to new research.Music-loving Britons who tune in to easy listening, classical and indie rock are less likely to be involved in an accident than those who sing to dance and house music or R'n'B.The research carried out by Privilege Insurance reveals the safest song is Disco 2000 by Pulp, while Firestarter by The Prodigy is sure to send you off the road. ...but which type of house music? Talk about a lack of detail in the research!
TLicense
WTF?? I can see it now. When your getting an insurance quote.... Agent:- "And what kind of music do you listen to sir?" Driver:- "well to be honest I don't mind a bit of techno-thrash" Agent:- "Computer says no"

I could have told them that Good old research projects, I remember seeing a report from some university that spent a year studying how people park their cars in busy car parks. Essentially there were two types, people who circled the car park looking for a space and people who stayed still waiting for someone to leave. Yeah, cheers for that, at least you weren't wasting time and money finding a cure for cancer eh?
magicmatty
It must clearly have nothing to do with 4rseholes who: cant drive properly, cant negotiate roundabouts and junctions, dont read signs, speed excessively through unsuitable areas, cant see clearly, etc, etc
