Matt H
Hello all, Been a while But anyway, I need to get hold of a new Aerotop Roof Tool (the OEM alan key ratchet). The mechanism in mine decided to break. Does anyone know the part number so I can order a new one from Toyota (hopefully they are still being made). AndrewOW
I don't know if they are still being made, but a standard 6mm allen key works just as well.
Guest ugp
I wouldn't mind one too, the allen key can mark the roof lining if not careful
Matt H
I don't know if they are still being made, but a standard 6mm allen key works just as well. As upg said, I've found the full rotation of a normal allen key fouls the roof lining, plus it's not as quick.... nor as glamourous I'm using a normal allen key at the mo, but it's cumbersome as I'm contantly taking it out so the key doesn't snarl the roof lining. Having said that, it's not like the roof is going to be coming off much now the rubbish weather has set in. I'm pretty disappointed my OEM tool broke, as even though I've had it for ~4 years, it was new from Nic and all considered it hasn't lasted well. AndrewOW
Maybe it's just as well I have the proper roof tool then. I did try using an allen key instead, just to save fiddling with the tool itself, and I didn't notice it get in the way, but I can see it rounding the attachment area off because of multiple insertions. Ooerr.

Matt H
I've just phoned Toyota and ordered (what I hope) is one. It comes in two parts - the ratchet and the allen key bit. Both together came to a more than reasonable £11.47 including the VAT. Once I pick it up I'll post the parts numbers if it's right.
Purity14
Perhaps that's why my tool broke Well if you insert something into yourself multiple times, what do you expect?
