Chris Wilson
I have a large .dat format file that can apparently be opened in Excel, but I have never had that on my PC. I use Open Office instead. Does anyone know if I can open the file in Open Office and save it as a .csv file? I can then view it in a data log analysis app I have. Thanks. I believe you can do this in Excel itself.
RedM
Why not just try it, Chris? From what I know (I use OO as well) you should be able to open it bar a few caveats.
RobUK
Hi Chris, if you have received a .dat file then it might be that the email hasn't been received correctly. Especially if the file is called windata.dat...
Chris Wilson
No, it's just a text / number file. I have now found I need to use Open Office Calculator. I can then see the contents, but when I save it as a .csv file something is getting changed my application doesn't like, and it won't read it. Probably some extra characters or delineation glitch, not sure yet. The .dat file is at: http://www.gatesgarth.com/run2.dat It's something someone has sent me, I have virus checked it and it seems fine, and the guy is not a plonker
