Stopped By The Police

Well i took the plate off the front of the car today to see how i felt with it on/off, and a couple of hours after taking it off a police man coming the other way as i drive into the supermarket flags me down. " You havn't got a front plate on" said the policeman. I told him that i'd only got it back from the bodyshop yesterday and will put it on ASAP. He said ok and drove off :D So tomorrow it goes back on.............NOT, ha ha. :ecstatic:

I've not had a front plate for around 3 months. I've driven past 4 police 'enforcement' vans and got ignored, driven past 20+ police cars and still no response. 4 weeks ago I got pulled over and got a producer and 'rectification' notice (No fine though). They advice me to put the plate in the windscreen until I got it fitted properly.

Still not got it fitted properly (no-where to put it on the do-luck front) but have followed their advice so far!

Both really should be dealt with by VDRS ( as I mentioned before) but if you have a blatantly small one (which sabrina tells me you do!! ) they might not like that. If you're not going to have it attached carry it in the car, least you have some excuse rather than a piss take!

I could search but im being lazy. If i get stopped with no plate it's just a producer right, if i have a small one do i get fined??

IIRC, no plate = producer and £30 fine (like me  )

wrong sized plate, same as above but they can give you points or somethin can't they?

Yes thank you Dug i was actually waiting for Ro to put that. Must be slow tonight :p

It's the points part i'm worried about. I could always carry the small one and if i get pulled just say i knew it was illegal and waiting for the new one to come through. Or i could snap the big one, carry it round and say it wont go on etc... :D

Class one, whats the deal with motorbikes then?

As from what I have been told, the cops don't like the small numbers plate in the front because they think it can effect the mobile vans making them out..

What about bikes? They have no plates on the front at all, and very small ones at the rear? Does this mean they get away with it?

No. Bikes aren't allowed very small plates at the rear. Legal bike plates are only very slightly smaller than car plates. If they (or 'we', as I'm a biker too) have smaller than legal plates we get stopped and treated the same as a car driver with an illegal plate.

I've been stopped twice in one day for the plate on my bike. Got nicked for it as well the second time.
