Big Brakes

Right Chaps,

Will shortly be investing in some K-Sport 6 or 8 pot 356mm front brakes from my favourite wallet emptier in Enfield.

Before doing this I was wondering if anyone had anything "lying around" that would do a similar job?

Don't want UK 4 pots before anyone asks.

Cheers.

Im not 100% convinced a big brake kit is the future for the road. Ive been out in a jspec car on track that had race pads in, decent lines and RBF660 and it was epic. I would say initial bit was as good as by 380 MM setup and they lasted no problems all day.

A refreshed UK 4 pot setup with race pads, lines and a high boiling point fluid would be a really good setup for a road car that gets used on track occationally.

P.S will be doing Rockingham on the 5th Nov if your intrested??

Already got Porterfield pads thanks Imi.

Hoping to do some reasonably serious track day work next year with a view to big power upgrade the following year, so only want to buy once.

Hate these bloody sliding caliper j-specs. Jumped on the brakes a few weeks ago and veered left towards the verge. That was when the decision to upgrade was made.

Fair enough that makes sense then, buy once is deffo the plan. Wish I had adopted that strategy when I was going BPU :)

What ever you do dont get floating disks, one regret I have as they make far too much noise.

Never mind this passanger business, stretch the legs of that car. See if we can get the Whiffin Boys intrested as well :)

Not sure we will get Deathrace (Steve) there any time soon! He had a bit of a nightmare weekend there for the Eurosaloons. Really doesn't suit a Supra too well. He was not very far ahead of the ex Clio Cup cars, though I think new rather than second hand Tyres would have made a huge difference.

As long as Whiffy gets his 4" exhaust off and sensible turbo he might be up for it.

Ill be your Co driver mike :D!

My opinion is the same as mikes, a refreshed UK set all around with good pads/fluid and lines are a great way to go.

I view K sports as budget brakes and if I reached the limit of UKs I'd only put something like AP, Alcon, stoptech or brembo.

Yes mate certainly, for the money you can`t beat uk`s, ive done alot of track usage with all my cars and uk`s have held up really well, i`m using porterfield race pads with castrol srf fluid in my silver car and they`re bloody good tbh.

For Track use the easiest way to improve braking it to increase cooling :

add fan assisted cooling , couple of fans and flexi pipes into the dust shield and a small lip on the shield to guide cool air over disc edge where the heat is flung out Of the disc .

Could double up as a winter leg warmer - just stand by the front wheels ...

I have a set of AP 365mm Discs & calipers im after £800 for, you would need to get brackets made to suit the supra though.

Any idea if 18" rims will clear these or if 19s are required. Sound a bit on the large side for 18s to me???

Mike's KADs are 378mm and they just fit under his 18s. When we test fitted the wheels for the first time it was stupidly close but they fit.

Its all going to come down to the offset and design of the spokes that will be the deciding factors.
