He'd dinged his wheel and everyone told him not to drive the car, some were offering him their spare alloys for free. The concern here is there are 2 seals that go between the 2 halves and if you didnt know they were there then its very possible for them to fall out. Did you see these seals ? I strongly suggest at the very least you take the wheel off and have a good look round the caliper for brake fluid, or as suggested get someone to have a look at the caliper or send it to dude to take it apart. You won't be the first or last to do this I would imagine, you learn from your mistakes. im sorry but i hope you are wrong! there is no way you can split the calipar by misstake it is obviuos what bolts to undo to get it off the hub (which is not what the title says), there seems to be alot of back tracking going on from the op! toyota even say not to split the caliper when you get the refurb kit! there is no need what so ever to split them at all the mind boggles people with no clue should at least research about the job they are going to do, not ask questions after they have done it wrong! i know when i have to do a spot of light reading it is a information full forum all you have to do is search for it. A straightforward job turns into a right mess, I suppose you can take the opportunity to overhaul them. I appologise again for laughing in my previous post. Lude Posted October 10, 2011 Author Share Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) the pic i listed isnt my pic, its an example to show where the caliper was split, the 2 halves, i didnt remove the pistons, or any seals, it split open, for about 5 mins while i retapped the wheel stud, then i put the 2 halves back together again, bolted up tight, stopped leaking instantly, and no fluid leaked, this was at least 2 months ago i did this, and all has been fine, but will be sending off to dude just incase. i didn split, remove all seals and re use them, the caliper was split and put more or less straight back together Edited October 10, 2011 by Lude (see edit history) Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

J_Supra_07 Posted October 10, 2011 Share Posted October 10, 2011 (edited) I'd be tempted to take the caliper off (don't split it) check ur seals are in place and 100% sealed. Remeber there your brakes, the larst thing u want is it to leak while your driving Next time you do this, as stated it very easy just take the two pins out don't split it. Ill be blaming you then Well hes already had it off once and got it back on, he's also bled it, at the end of the day if he can't bleed it he cant drive it !!!! I can only check the integrity of the seals in the caliper. This is no diff to someone buying a caliper from me and me posting it. hopefully the guy who bought my T6 manifold and turbo won't crash because he's going too fast cause that will be my fault as well.
