Guest stevie.84
My car is still overheating, it's had a new radiator a year ago, and I changed the cap 3 day ago and I have just replace my viscous fan as that had gone too, I was hoping that was the problem but nah! I've noticed that when I accelerate it drops down, but not all the time, I then put my heaters too hot to cool engine down and it was blowing out cold air - aloof a sudden it blew out red hot air and then the engine temp needle drop straight back to half way where it should, but then my heaters go cold again and the engine temp raises! Could this be a prob with the thermostat or waterpump etc? Can anybody suggest anything?, I love my car but just recently she's trying to push me to the point of getting rid! I've spent more time fixing problems than I have enjoying drives without worrying of niggles or overheating, any help would greatly be appreciated, thanks in advance. Stevo
Sounds like the thermostat isn't opening properly mate. They're not expensive from Toyota. Out of interest, have you got any airlocks?

Bossco
The valve which lets coolant into the heater matrix could be sticking. That would explain the hot and cold air issue. Thankfully mine free'd it's self as it's not a straight forward job to replace the matrix. There is a thread somewhere on here where a member posted up pics of how to get to the valve from the passenger footwell without having to remove the full dash. Sorry though, I cant remeber who posted it up.
