grahamc
You're telling me that motorsport is dangerous? No way. Well its technically not motorsport, its an open speed motorway........ thats the point of that blog nasty - some lovely cars in that mess - what model porsche is/was this? Love it... http://bridgetogantry.com/2/images/stories/11_09/crash5.jpg I think its a 993, looked like a nice car before....

grahamc
Driving on a race track = motorsport. Nurburgring is a toll road, not a race track
Gaz6002
Nurburgring is a toll road, not a race track I'm not an insurance company and that's irrelevant. It's still a race track.
bignum
Surprised to see the ringtaxi mixed up in the carnage, looks like the fast section between Kesselchen and Klostertal.
grahamc
I'm not an insurance company and that's irrelevant. It's still a race track. I agree!! But its the technical classification that is the problem. My insurance company says track and its not one of the approved ones either

I've seen the Ring Taxi hit a biker before - they're out there to show off so do get into scrapes occasionally.
Gaz6002
I agree!! But its the technical classification that is the problem. My insurance company says track and its not one of the approved ones either I understand that, but I honestly can't see anyone going there and not knowing the risks involved. You'd have to be pretty damn special to do that. I don't get all this campaigning to make it safer. Just don't be an idiot and you'll be fine

CanisLupus
Thing is that the workers didn't set up the restrictions in an adequate way. I've watched a video from that day and the warning lights + Speed limit are behind a blind corner which is just bonkers on a fair fast section... the driver from the video also almost hit another car. As with the other points it is true that there are many idiots driving and showing off but everybody with a clear mind should be able to understand how dangerous the ring ist with its various road surfaces and blind corners. On a personal note... as long as they don't endanger me or others i don't care about them... let's call it natural selection...
bignum
This just confirms what i decided this year (for me anyway), no more "going for it" on tourist days, i`ll book a trackday there for pushing it laps. Apparently the corvette was rented:blink:
