Matt T
On the BBC website, download it and see how much you will be paying under the proposed new pay as you drive system. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/youandyours/items/01/2005_27_mon.shtml I dont do much driving, and only a very short journey to work, i was expecting it to be similar if not cheaper, but no its double! So i wouldnt be surprised to see some massive leaps in costs to all those using motorways regularly!
Homer
I hope that's not right, mine is 2.5 times the fuel cost. £240 per month under the current system, over £600 per month under the new one!
AJI
Just another way for the government to slide in more stealth taxes.
Pete
The least economical your car is - the better off you are I'm a little better off simply because of Road taxing the Kitcar and not using it much. So the answer is buy multiple low economical cars and you'll be quids in!
Ark
£250 => £825 PER MONTH And no incentive to drive a more economical car... Or I could spend twice as long driving the A30 through basingstoke, all that stop / start traffic, congestion (!!!), fuel inefficiency blah blah blah, and get it down to £601...WTF?!?!?!? The whole point of a motorway is to get smoothly from A to B. It's purpose is to ease city congestion, yet these schemes will create it by forcing cheapskates like me to make that ugly choice! Someone really needs a good slap over this one.
AJI
Well these sorts of 'great' ideas are thought up by ministers who are chaufer driven all over the place and don't own cars themselves !!

To be f**king used! Around here this scheme will force cars / vans / lorries off of the bypass that was built for them and on to the quiet villiage roads and past the schools! Great idea f**kwits! GeordieSteve
It won't happen. They can't justify current taxation never mind £800 a month to get to work!
