neilthenut
toying with the idea of building a 1.5jz- using a NA block and then use the turbo etc to suit the top end- does anyone know of anyone using this? and if anyone has any details of what boost can run, what power it will likey put out, ideal head gasket yo use? cheers Edited October 6, 2011 by neilthenut (see edit history)

Kirk
i know a 1.5 is a 1jz head on a 2jz block- but i'm talking about build a NA-t 1.5 a 1j head on a na 2j block- NA-T on a 1JZ would imply your wanting to use a 1JZ GE head and a 2JZ GE bottom end... just saying First problem that you would run into is the lack of parts support for the 1JZ in terms of turbo manifolds etc. May as well just take a 1JZ GTE head with the stock twins and run it that way. Andy-No-Knee
A 1.5JZ is traditionally a 1JZGTE head on a 2JZGE block. Lots of people have done it, no lack of parts - you just need to look. The 1JZ is a very popular engine in Japan and has a lot of tuning potential. There is lots of internet rubbish about it having better flowing porperties than the 2JZGTE head - but it is just that, internet rubbish. As an option to turbo a 2JZGE lump it is a cheap-ish option. But due the kits like the one from Whifbits doing a NA-T is getting cheaper and easier to do.
neilthenut
cheers- but as i have a 1jz, which will go sing;e turbo at some point and i have a 2jz ge only real out lay will be a 1jz gte head and gasket- as i'd use the turbo off my car - so cost would be minimal.... can i fit 2jz gte pistons in to 2jz ge to lower the compression or do i hav e to change crack also? Rsoarer
2jzge/gte share the same crankshaft and engine block, the difference is that the ge doesn't has the oil squirters and turbo oil feeds. The ge block does have this provision but need to drill/tap/machine. The exhaust side oil gally needs to be connected to the intake side galley to use the squirters and stock oil feed places. Most people leave the stock feeds and just get a feed from the oilfilter. 2jzgte pistons (currently selling a set) will fit in a ge block with no modifications at all, you need to use the 1JZ headgasket to go 1.5JZ.
