monsween
Brake fluid level is too low
Guest ugp
Low fluid level? Try shorting the switch on master cyl.
p3te
The fluid was actually nearly on the min so i topped it up, what do you mean short the switch?
Guest ugp
Stick a paperclip across the terminals on the block connector, if it goes off you've got a faulty low fluid level switch.
p3te
Is this the connector that goes into the brake fluid tank? It was ok before i changed the brakes does that matter?
Bossco
It could be that your hand brake isnt fully releasing???
Dnk
It could be that your hand brake isnt fully releasing??? I'll have a quid on that if the fluid level is ok in the m/c
hodge
Low fluid level? Try shorting the switch on master cyl. Stick a paperclip across the terminals on the block connector, if it goes off you've got a faulty low fluid level switch. It doesn't work like that. When the connector is plugged in and the fluid level is high enough it stops it from making a circuit when the level drops the circuit is made and the light comes on. If you simply unplug it the light will go out.

Do you still have a warning triangle light on that dash John?
nevins
How did you adjust it, if you done it internally as well check that you did not manage to disturb the switch on the lever.
Guest ugp
Just a thought, if its the handbrake, you get the other little red light too. Does this come on and go off as you operate the handbrake? If so, it's not that. If it stays on though, ^^ what these guys are saying is as close as your going to get.
p3te
all is fine now, i put in more fluid and went for a drive and it went off:blush:, and i adjusted the handbrake with the adjusters on the back hubs, Bossco It could be that your hand brake isnt fully releasing??? now you say that sometimes when i release the handbrake now, especially if its been on a bit it dosent fully release untill i drive it, i thought it might be a bit paint on the inside of the hub sticking and it would wear off? Bossco
Sounds more like a sticky caliper than the handbrake.
Guest ugp
Can you spin the wheel easily by hand with the h/b off?
p3te
Sounds more like a sticky caliper than the handbrake. if its sticky would it not be on all the time? it seemed fine before i fitted, when it sticks its as if the car has been stood a while the handbrake sticks on, and when the car moves again its like the seal is broke and it moves freely again. I've just done Bosscos today with no issues. Your car must be special lol.
Havard
Just for reference, I had the same problem with the light on and it was just a wee bubble of air in the system. Bled the brakes again and the light went off. Looks as if it was your level though on this occasion. H.
