Xzarik
So much as I want to do everything to my Sup myself, I decided that brakes were one of those safety things I should really not take the risk on, so I got a quote from a place in Leeds which is meant to be a Japanese Import Specialist... £150 to fix the squeaking brakes sound ok? I believe they're going to be fitting new discs and pads on the front for that price too. Also on a sidenote, anyone had any experience with Rising Sun Motors? Josh
Brakes are easy. The first (proper) job I did on a car was change the discs and pads on my Golf. If you're just changing those and fixing the squealing, it should be quite straight forward.
Xzarik
Undoubtedly i'll be changing them at some point, but I need the car this saturday and I don't want to risk it; I can't think of anything more dangerous to screw up because i've not got the car on a driveway/in a garage and i'm rushing it! qwarrior
Discs, pads and labour for 150 sounds cheap if it includes parts. Are all of the parts stock?
Xzarik
Great news I believe all the parts are just bog-standard stuffs.
imi
surprising as the discs alone are 100 each. and decent pads would be around 70 for a pair.
Dnk
They wont be using o/e Toyota parts for that money, if i were you i'd ask the garage what they intend to do and fit so you know exactly what your getting for your £150. Changing front discs and pads is an hours work max, half an hour really but not many garages will charge for less than an hour for doing anything mechanical. UK spec discs are approx £75 each and the front pads will be around £50 for both front calipers. Im not sure about the price for the smaller brakes (2 piston fronts) but they'll be similar to the 4 pot UK set up
jim
There's virtually no difference in price between jspec small and uk spec brakes, in fact I think the jspecs are a little dearer.
