Samurai 20V
Guys, getting ready to swap the turbos, found that the studs from the wastegate side of the new turbos are missing. Is it a big job to remove the existing ones from the old turbos, or should I just wait and order new ones? Was hoping to do the job this weekend. The stud I am talking about is shown below. pedrosixfour
You can just get manifold studs and nuts from a motor factors with the correct tread size and pitch to suit this job if you don't want to risk shearing studs in the old turbo. I had to fit a couple to the turbos on my 1JZ after the last spanner that was at them sheared some of the studs. Removing the old remnants was a fun job. You can remove the studs from your old turbo easilyy enough by locking two nuts against each other on the exposed tread of the stub to allow you to unscrew it. Some penetrating fluid and perhaps some heat may be needed depending on the level of corrosion.
