Looking for some work experience

Hi guys,

May be a bit of a longshot but im currently studying a motorsport engineering degree and im looking for a garage to do some work experience at, preferably 1 or 2 days a week unpaid work.

Just seeing if anybody on the forum had any contacts etc that could be useful to helping me in finding somewhere. I live in Surrey (GU17 post code so anywhere around here would be good)

If anyone can help me out it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

...and I'm being quite serious here, have you written to Maclaren?

No I havent, one of my tutors last year works for maclaren they do take the odd person on but to be fair so many people email the likes of mclaren etc I will send an email anyway.

Was hoping there might be someone on the forum with a few contacts etc which would help me out a lot as ive got a 2 week work experience slot in january as well.

If you were in the West Mids area i could help but Surrey is a bit far to travel

All the best with finding somewhere, have a look in the Autosport magazine, one team i can think of

in your area is West Surrey Racing, might be worth an email or just go over there and try your luck

ww.wsr-racing.co.uk

ah ok thanks anyway:) I will give them a try, I prefer to go over to the places I think it shows a better impression that you have made an effort to actually go down there rather than send an email

If you are willing / able to live in digs during the weekdays then you are not a million miles away from Ricardo (Shoreham by Sea), or Aston Martin, Cosworth and Mahle (all Northampton). If the engineering consultancies are busy (which many are right now) they might be happy to take someone on. In fact most have proper "apprentice" programmes. You might not end up working on a motorsport project but you would get some valuable experience.
